Zaino polish: What now?
For those of you that have used and were happy with Zaino products, what are you using now? After almost 2 decades, I’m looking to try something different. I’m not ready to go with ceramic yet.

As far as solid form carnaubas go, I've been extremely pleased with Wolfgang Fusion Estate wax. You can achieve similar day 1 results with cheaper products, but I haven't come across anything that compares when considering finish, ease of application/ removal, and rate of deterioration in combination.
Amazon.com: Wolfgang Concours Series WG-9900 Carnauba Polymer Estate Wax, 8 fl. oz.: Automotive Unfortunately I never had the chance to use Zanio on my M for a true comparison, but going off memory it seemed to "layer" better, or said another way, multiple coats seemed to "deepen" the finish. I really haven't been down that rabbit hole with the Wolfgang product or felt the need. |

I have used the Sonax PNS, easy to apply, offered great water beading results and shine.
Unfortunately for me, it didn’t seem to last anywhere as close to the Zaino polish. I also felt the Sonax had a grabby feel to it that never really went away, I believe it’s the nature of the product. For now I’m sticking with the Zaino. |

I've used Zaino since 2000 and still use in on my Z4M coupe and E39 M5 (they have so many coats on by now, ha ha). For the M3, I didn't feel like doing the initial 3 coat process and sealant technology has come a long way. I first used Sonax PNS. It only takes one coat, and lasts a decent amount of time (at least 3 - 6 months on a garaged car). However, I found it was a pain to apply - specifically it I found it difficult to remove, and I usually had some streaking. Then I tried HydroSilex Recharge, a DIY ceramic coating that has good reviews on Detailers Domain. It is as easy to use as a quick detailer. I'm not sure how long it lasts, but it is so easy to use that I have been using it every three months. I'm going to stick with that for now.
Zaino is still a good product. I use the Z-CS quite a bit as it is so easy to use (no wipe off required). There are a lot of products out there...GL!

Do you really feel like Z-CS does anything? Additionally, I almost feel like Z-CS is too concentrated and I'm never sure I achieved complete coverage. I've read the same about Sonax PNS and plan to stay away. I do love the slick finish I get after Zaino. My wife's vehicle is in need of paint correction so it's the perfect candidate for something new (all my other cars are already layered with Zaino). I've been debating finishing it off with 1/2 Zaino and 1/2 something new. A few months later will really tell the tale of what works and what doesn't. Unfortunately, I'm then stuck with doing another mild polish in order to reapply the winning sealer to the entire vehicle.

I liked Zaino stuff back in the day, but it was a bit of a process. If your paint is in good shape, and you want something that lasts a long time, I would consider Duragloss 111 or Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. Pair either with Duragloss 601 bonding agent, and you should be good for quite a while. The Duragloss would probably last a little longer, but the WG probably looks a little better. Those are my two favorite synthetic sealants.
PS - Get a decent spray wax and use it after every couple washes and you’ll be good for well over a year. PPS - It sounds like you have a DA polisher. Both of these sealants go on much easier with a DA polisher. You want a very thin layer, and then they wipe off with virtually no effort. Last edited by jdgamble; 06-07-2019 at 11:25 AM.. |

jescar power lock has a very slick finish after application, durability is pretty decent lasts a few months depending on environment and if your car is garaged or not.
