Windshield Chip/Crack
So, I have no clue when this happened or how but I managed to rack up my first actual windshield crack.
As this never happened before I'm a bit loss for words on how to deal with this. I am really picky and would prefer not to replace my windshield but is that my only option? For reference the damage is smaller than my pinky. I can see from the inside as well. If I touch it it seems to be outside but I can definitely feel the crack.

Fill it with a windshield repair kit. It will significantly improve the appearance and prevent it from spreading. Do not replace your windshield unless you absolutely have to.

I used a $10 rain x repair kit from amazon. worked pretty damn good on my car. do it asap so dirt doesnt get into the crack and make it more visible.

I was looking at what I can do, sent a few text and emails but it was pretty late when I saw it.
I will call up a few places when morning rolls around to see if I can get this taken care of asap.

I'm on my third windshield, 14,000 miles... First a rock hit a corner which turned into a foot long crack. Then a year later another rock from the other side of the freeway flew over and caused a chip. During the repair process, the chip turned into a crack.
Total $1,000 deductible, I should keep spare windshields around. /rant |

Check with your insurance company. I had an almost identical chip, was able to get it fixed for free. FYI, I have Geico.

I've had to have the windshield replaced twice in less than a year. First time I was scraping a sticker off the inside and it cracked. The second time, I had road debris put a small crack. overnight it grew to a couple feet long.
300 euro deductible. windshield is about 1 grand total. |

My car had 500 miles on it and I got a similar chip on my windshield driving it back the 800 miles to its new home. Pissed me off. In Florida, windshields are free, but I didn't want some jackass ripping off a brand new windshield off a brand new car and I didn't want to make a claim that goes on the CarFax so I paid $80 out of pocket and had it filled. Not perfect but I would say 90% non noticeable and mine is on the passenger side upper area.
