Cracked Night Vision Lens - Repair Options?
Discovered that my Night Vision lens is cracked. Unfortunately it's not a small one. It's a spiderweb crack, and with an actual piece missing so you can see through the lens.
What options do I have? -Google didn't have much results. I saw a replacement being about $700. -I'm wondering if this crack could be repaired by a mobile glass repair company? (thinking outside the box) -If I can find out the lens size, I'm curious if I could just a get a generic lens? does it have to be a bmw oem? I'm open to other ideas |

My feeling is that you're just going to need to replace the NV camera.
Might be more cost effective to purchase a used one from eBay or a wrecker. |

You should research because in retrofit threads i think it is often mentioned that the module and the camera must come from the same donor car.

The camera and electronic module are somehow bound, no direct way to replace just the camera. And no way to "repair" the lens because the applied method means pumping a pressurised gel into the crack. It will just break your damaged lens into pieces.
You may want to buy a new OEM lens from ebay for about $460: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-OEM...beda%7Ciid%3A1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-BMW...IAAOSwElhb45Q8 This is not too expensive because the lenses are made with the element Germanium to be transparent to infrared radiation, it is primarily military technology.
