Crank hub installation

Hello all,

I recently got an M3 and I’d like to get an upgraded crank hub installed as soon as possible. I already purchased the VTT crank hub complete package. I just need help with any recommendations in the NY, even tri-state area for a good shop with decent prices. Any assistance will be great appreciate.

Thanks,
Chris

There's Search button at the top of the site/app that can be used to research topics...especially ones like this that have been beat to death and are mentioned on a weekly basis.

Crank Hub

Bought my m4 and now I want to add a tune. But I hear that I need to change out the hub crank if I mess with the boost. Is this true? Is changing out the hub crank necessary? Currently have arkapovic DP and mid pipe. And the ECU then that the guy did before me. The display say it puts out up to 480hp and 480TQ

Upgrading internals is always wise with a substantial power boost. Some may say its not necessary, but just need to decide on your risk tolerance.

Most reputable tune companies also can advise you on whether you need to upgrade your hub crank.

There's a ton of data on this issue in here. I'd recommend reading up the threads. A few things I can say:

You can spin the hub even without a tune, if it's a manual and you money shift or use kickdown on a dct, so you are always at risk. That said it seems to happen more when you add more power, seems like every car that has gone e85 has spun the hub if they did not get the fix

The car has a ton of power, more than enough for the streets, but a tune is so much fun

A tune will increase power, increasing the likelihood of spinning the hub

Ignore the sport gauge displays they are not accurate, it's just a gimmick

Why in the world would you need to ADD power to an M4 that already has 480 horse.....

Well I think that has to do more with the fancy suit doctor not knowing how to drive his/her car than the turbo itself 😉

I was going to write that but I thought that was a given...my apologies. But for the record, even on the rare occasion the doc can drive...still crapping on. Maybe just not as much. Hahaha
