The BMW Tax

This must be part of the BMW tax I have heard about? I haven't had a flat tire in about 15 years. I've owned the M3 for 6 weeks and see this when I walk in the garage.

Has little to do with it being a BMW and everything to do with luck.

I'm really confident that runflats are more likely to pick up nails than other tires though. You running RFTS?

And the worst part is that nail is too close to the side-wall so you're going to have to get a new tire because no tire shop will patch it. Funny enough I basically went through this same situation

It's mainly just due to the tyres being like twice as wide as your average commuter car I think.

M3 is not likely to have runflates...

Yeah, I'm sure I am overdue for a flat. It's just funny that we drove all three cars today and I get the flat in the new car that the tires cost almost twice as much on. I probably would have missed it if it did not have 295's as well.

No runflats, they are PS4S. Just put new 265's on the front to get rid of some rubbing and they have road hazard included.

We had a major hail storm a couple months ago and the whole north side of town is still getting their roofs replaced so I'm sure there are ten times the roofing nails being dropped on the roads. At least it wasn't a deer or an F150!

I had not noticed until you pointed (no pun intended) that out. That's funny.

I have extended warranty with tire package. My car went thru 2 rear tire replacements and saved me $750 already. Something to consider if you plan on buying extended warranty in future, buy it now and have your tires covered

I checked with the PO and he didn't have it on them. The tire shop I use includes it on all of their tires so I will have it going forward.

Sorry. I was attempting to reference the warning people give when buying a BMW that everything will be more expensive. That nail may result in $800 to replace both rears if needed.

Let's just hope that you don't have to replace both rears tires OP. What is the condition of the other rear tire of yours?

We had the roof replaced on our house three years ago and I'm still finding random roofing nails on our property. Fortunately, none have been in our driveway.

tbh this is one of the cheapest cars i have ever witnessed in terms of replacement parts. do your research, get tyres cheap. ( i am in UK)

title also makes me think you want to feel premium. call mp has m tax, call mp exhaust m tax but not super widely used tyres as m tax.

bmw isnt a high class, premium, super luxury brand imo.
this is an entry level sports car. that is it.

It is in pretty good condition. Just need to check the difference in tread depth vs a new one. They don't recommended running them more than 2/32 or 3/32 off from each other.

If you have to replace both and the nail has the tire plugged (not flat)... might as well just kill that tread and go take a video shoot in an empty lot lol

One of the reasons why I buy road hazard insurnace. My luck is pretty bad with tires. I get at least 1 nail a year. Insurance is like 120 dollars. 1 Tire installed is like 400 dollars. My ROI is quite high.
