My Phytonic blue X5 build is COMPLETE!!!!
Hello everybody,
In this thread will be going through my build, my current mods and upcoming mods. first of all let us meet the Phytonic X5, got the 40i M-sport package with the cognac interior. My Humble review: I love it, the driving experience is great, I thought the 22's will be a problem and feel every pothole, but no, very smooth, and no I dont have the air suspension. Rear size leg room isn't big as the porsche cayenne, but the head room is way better. Current mods: Black grill Black exhaust trims H&R spacers 12mm & 15mm upcoming mods: WING MIRROR UNITS (Retrofitting the X5 with the Genuine BMW M Mirrors from the X3M & X4M) CARBON FIBRE COMPETITION FRONT SPLITTER CARBON FIBRE SHARK FIN COVER CARBON FIBRE COMPETITION REAR SPOILER Rear carbon fibre winglets painting the wheels black or Vossen HF2 Last edited by aao4473; 09-02-2020 at 12:17 PM.. |

Why install shadow line exhaust tips?
Last year the shadow line exhaust tips (black) were around 250-290$
Suddenly BMW decided to sell each 225$, so 450$ for the pair, why? how? nobody knows. so I decided to paint them instead, cost? 32$ 1) Masking tape 2) Plastic sharp squeegee 3) Black plastic dip or High heat black paint (if you are confident) 4) 2k glossifier 5) tack rag/cloth Instructions: clean tips with alcohol, or a scuffing pad. if you look closely you can see the the tips consist of two parts that are bonded together, the chrome tip then the black metal part, it will help you in masking. everything after that chrome tip, mask it. Clean again. start spraying, leave for 10 mins. second coat of spray, leave for 10 mins. third coat of spray, then leave for 10 mins. allow coats to dry for an hour.
Tips: 1) put the spray cans in warm water before spraying (highly recommend) 2) clean the spray can tip before each coat, as they tend to spit out and splatter. 3) even spray strokes, around 5-9 niches away. 4) don't worry about having patchiness the first few spray passes. RW Carbon Rear Winglets
The oem ones were around $1435 which is crazy.
So was browsing through RW Carbon website and found their own rear winglets They are the same as the oem ones, so yeah I dont get why bmw is charging $1435 for the pair. The RW carbon rear winglets were $750 and after discount they are now $599. So I ordered them, easy to install and it really compliments the rear of the car, especially after the wheel spacers. Nice, not a fan of black rims but I like it with this combo. They blend really well together. May consider myself since blue is my favorite color.

Nice. I'm excited to watch where this build will go. Not enough modders in this community

With that said though, when you see one that catches your eye, it makes it that much more "special" than all the others. Funny story.... back in the mid 2000s, I was HEAVILY involved in the Subaru community. I spent 7 years building one of the most track focused WRXs in existence (at the time anyhow). I was the president and co-founder of one of the largest Subaru clubs in the country. I spent 2 years documenting the restoration of a 78 BRAT, wife drove an obscure SVX, and we even had a Tribeca as the family hauler..... but at the end of it all, I said to myself "If I'd known how much money, blood, sweat, and tears I was going to end up putting into this WRX, I would have started with a Forester, because now "modded" WRXs are the "norm". Forget the engine or the badge on the trunk. The X5 is a pretty "vanilla" car.... but with a few mods, it turns into something pretty special. |

It's better to put some paint protection film on the rear bumper after you installed the spacers, or you might notice some rock chips on the rear bumper later.
