Diesel E70
Has anyone in the USA/Canada driven the diesel E70? My dealer says he now has one for demo. I was wondering what your impressions were if you've driven one.

Deda, consider yourself lucky that you can get the X6 diesel in your country! It's not clear when, if ever, they'll bring those to the States. I'm seriously considering trading in my 335i for a X5 xDrive35d, and probably selling my diesel pickup as well. If the X6 was available then I'd consider that over the X5, and wouldn't care about losing a bit of the utility. I've seen the X6 several times in person and love it.

I was in my dealership this weekend and my favorite CA took me down to where they had a pretty stripped E70d and all I can say is WOW! The diesel is so smooth, quiet and clean that I could hardly believe what I was seeing, hearing and smelling (no smell at all even in a confined *******. No engine shake, no big clattery diesel sound either (there was a little diesel sound but it sounded really good and powerful). I am really impressed!

My dealer got theirs in a couple of hours ago, and it should be available to see tomorrow. I've driven a few diesels in Europe over the past few years and have been amazed at how smooth they are compared to the "truck" diesels here in the States, and it sounds like the 35d is even better.

I drove the diesel X5 today! My wife currently drives a 2007 X5 4.8i. I found the diesel much nicer to drive. It has much smoother power delivery and wasn't nearly as snappy off the line as the 4.8. I have always been a diesel fan and own a diesel excursion for towing.
The X5 had not been driven before us today and was slightly noisy on start-up, but quickly quietened down. The heat in the cabin was very quick, not like older diesels where the heat take ages to blow. For a vehicle that drives very similar to the 4.8 V8, you would have to be crazy not to consider it. It's cheaper and uses a third less fuel. This is just my opinion and I would recommend anyone to try out the diesel themselves.
