My 0.02, it really would not be, especially considering the small difference in weight (335 vs. 135) and the loss of space all for $3k less. |

I guess the question is "How many would upgrade to a 335i if the 135i came in at $37K?". If it's everyone then obviously BMW blew the price. If it's only a small precentage and the 135i meets it's sales quota then it's a win-win for BMW. |

If some potential buyers buy a 335i or a 128i and BMW still attains their sales quota for the 135i then it's okay. Although I would certainly be happier paying $35K for a 135i M Sport, I really would not be surprised if it's higher. Of course, YMMV. BTW, I've started a poll regarding this issue that should be enlightening. Check out Would you buy a 135i at $37K? |

If we really see all those items (e.g. interior) in the US, then yes I think you have a good point...

Just a quick note, cars are not sold by the pound. You shouldn't erally consider weight when determining price (especially since lighter materials are often more expensive).

Yes, we've talked this to death, but it might be more about how much all of us think the car is worth rather than what we think the price turns out to be.
And I think BMW takes this into account. In other words the price is going to be set at something that takes in emotional variables as well as hard-ass objective financing. I've hovered around 35k. I'll take a shot and say it'll come in under that- $34,800. Why? The 328 Coupe is msrp-ing @ $35,300. Someone might say, "hey, the entry 3-er Coupe's only got a detuned N52 engine." But tell that to the person who bought one...they're going to want to feel like they have the better car because they paid more money and it's the next series up from the 1-er. It's not apples to oranges in this case- it's dollar-to-dollar. Final guess? $34,798....but I have a suspicion it's wishful thinking. My cut-off price is 36k. More than that and I'm looking at getting into another Z4. |

I agree with both of you but my cutoff will probably be 37-38k depending on what is included with that price.

If it's $37k, I bet only the few fanatics here buy them, but you'll have a rare BMW, even though BMW would have a huge marketing flop.

It would be a major marketing blunder. I consider myself to be a BMW fanatic in general, but at $37k for a newly introduced entry-level BMW, I would not walk away, I would run. |
