Last of the 08s?

I'm planning an early September ED. I've heard that BMW production stops in August and restarts with the 09 model in September. Is this true and might I be getting one of the last 08s?

Then why not get the 09 model? It might have some nice improvements?

Actually I believe the cutoff is September, and the '08s begin production mid-october early november.

You would not get the “Year one of the 1” in the chrome trim around the Start button. :headbang:

I don't care about the silly 1 of 1 thing. The 09 might have more choices or whatever.

True, and it might be more expensive...like a bunch more expensive, being that dealers had no trouble selling the '08's without any dealer lot stock. But, you gotta go with your options. If they can build one this year and we know nothing of next year it's kind of like playing the cards in your hand or waiting on the next deal. Could be better, could be worse. I have a base 135i with sport package and no options, so what could an '09 improve? But, we'll all be smarter when the press releases come out. Good luck on your decision.

I would actually like having the last 08 135i, if there was anyway of knowing it was actually the last one. I understand that the supposed 08 cut-off date for ordering is like July 8. Since I can't pick up until about September 8, I may wait it out a bit and not place the order until then (dealer can't place the order more than 60 days in advance anyway). Hopefully we'll have some idea whether the 09 might have any improvements or price increases by July. Also have to hope that interest rates stay down, which seems most likely in the short term.

I don't mind a price increase. Waiting sucks, but I have to pad my savings and other things b4 ordering. I don't want to have to sell the car if I have hard times. This has already happened here, a few guys already have to sell their cars due to financial problems. It happens nowadays for average people who don't make 6-7 figures.

Really? The dealer where I bought mine keeps getting more and not seeming to sell many. When I was first looking, they had 6 1s in inventory. 6 weeks, later, they have 16, and few are moving.

Nope, 6/16 are manual. And the two I _know_ they've sold were automatics (watching the ones I test drove, and it was easier to watch them move when their inventory was smaller).

if you wait for an 09... just to let you know, your money factor is going to jump 10 points at least, and ur MSRP may raise too.

The only thing that is confirmed your getting is the ability to send navigation waypoints from google maps

This is their inventory:

Now, they may have sold some 1s that never showed up in inventory, I know mine never did. But the only ones I've seen disappear from their inventory were an AW/taupe 128 convertible (the one they have listed now has different options) and a Black/Black stripped 128.

Were you able to get it below MSRP? I contacted BMW of Peabody and I didn't have any luck trying to get them to budge

No, when I first showed up, they hadn't started stockpiling inventory.
