Production #
For anyone with a recent (last couple days) order for a 135i, any idea how long I should expect to wait for a production number from my dealership ?
Thank you in advance for response |

put my deposit on a Sat, got the production# on the next Mon.
Production# is basically an Order Number. Once the dealership placed the order, that number will be available, I think. |

really depends on if your dealer has any allocations for cars that month or not... Basically what number on the "list" (if there is one) you are will give you a better idea about when you should expect a number... It took me about a week and a half to get mine...

I don't think the production number has anything to do with allocations. The dealer can use up all their allocation for lets say may but still give you a production number. but you car will just sit there waiting to get into production until the dealer gets an allocation. I think that's how it works, correct me if I'm wrong.

akak and SD are correct. if there is an open allocation you get it same day. if all allocations are filled, you will get a production number based on the next available allocation
allocations at different dealerships has many variables. the amount of allocations a dealership get is usually based on last years historical sales of the dealership (more cars sold means more allocations) but geographical location and BMW being funky sometimes messes up that theory.

I am assuming it depends on when the dealership receives its next allocation. When I made my order, my dealership had an allocation available, and I received my production # immediately after they processed the order.

right, you should get a production number immediately if your dealer has an allocation. if your dealer doesn't have an allocation it's hard to say how long you'll wait. ask your dealer when their next round of allocations come in. i believe they get them each month. hopefully, and most likely, the next round will contain some slots for a 135.
My dealer told me they had an allocation when I put down my deposit. Turns out they didn't. After threatening to cancel my order they traded an X6 for an allocation from another dealer... just found out today it's scheduled for production complete next Tuesday! |

How can you get a number for an allocation that you don't even have yet? Maybe it's just the reports they're looking at, but if they had a slot and a number, isn't that an allocation?
