How soon before your pick up date did the dealer require full payment?

I heard you have to pay before you head over there, because you have to own it when you pick it up.

Yes, that is the case. I paid 3 days before I left. My CA said you could pay as late as the day you leave, if you feel like cutting it close.

I paid about a week and a half before I left, as soon as the VIN came in. I wanted to get it out of the way asap.

I overnighted the bank check 2 days before I left. I checked with the dealer to make sure he got it the next day before I left to avoid any problems.

You should have no problem waiting until right before you leave to pay.

Thx for the responses. The financial lady wanted our money before I wanted to give it to her. I think she would rather have the interest on $40k then let me keep it invested.
