Did anyones car not come wrapped in plastic??

My CA is telling me the car doesnt come with any plastic on the outside. Just plastic on the inside covering the seats and some cardboard.

I thought all cars are delivered in "plastic wrap"

Nope. They come across the ocean with a layer of cosmoline, which is a waxy coating which protects the car from the salt water, but that is washed off at the VPC. When they get to the dealer all they have on them are some rubber strips down the edges of the doors.

Why do you care? the car will sit in the sun, salt and cold... Not sure why plastic for a few days will do to the car? Other than just being a waste of resources...

1. I asked the dealer not to prep the car and leave it untouched

2. Its layered with a layer of cosmoline while sitting in the sun, salt, and cold.

3. Im not concerned with sun, salt, or cold. Im concerned with the porter wiping it down.

I was told by my dealer that BMW doesn't use cosmoline or any other similar coating anymore. The cars are always either indoors or covered while in transit.

Im pretty sure they use cosmoline. I asked my dealer for no detail and on some parts there is a "waxxy" residue.

As far as not being outside, Id have to disagree with that too, my car was pretty dirty, no way that happened indoors.
