Hey, it least it's not an Audi

I found a web site for Audi A5/S5 enthusuiasts and if you think you're waiting a long time for your 1, they're talking months, not weeks. Part of it seems to be Audi giving preference to some dealers, but it may also be that the demand (and currency) is looking way more attractive in asia than in the US.

You guys on the east coast probably have the same long delivery times for Japanese cars as those of us on the west cost do for German cars.

When all is said and done I'll have waited almost exactly 2 months for my 135i.

the A5 is beautiful (second choice to the 135i) but ill take the performance of the 135i

funny thing is they are both the same price. Audi has a much better sound system, Bimmer has a much better powerplant. Guess which one was a higher priority?

The S5 is no faster than a 135i either. Fuel economy is just short of awful as well. It sure is "pretty" car though.

Yeah I saw a review somewhere that compared the S5 to the 335i coupe and the 335i was just as fast even though it was gving up quite a few horses. The 135i is a tad faster than the 3 so that's another win for the one. I test drove the A5 and though it's beautiful inside and out, it has virtually the same room inside as the 1, costs thousands more and is merely a competent, solid ride. No passion or fun to speak of. She's strictly a beauty queen.

The reason I started looking at BMW's was because I was quoted a 24 month wait for an S5.

I priced out an A5 with S-Line only and found out you have to order the premium package if you want the S-Line pkg. So stripped with only those 2 options is MSRP $45K. The S5 is VERY expensive. And like you said is only/maybe as fast as the 135i. Great looking car but WAY OUT of my cash flow. Sure I could afford an S5, but I would be saving less $$$ every month for retirement. Got to draw a line somewhere.

It might get better by next year but the shortage of them is due to the engine availability. It is used in so many Audi's it's hard to get enough for the demand.

I know I'm going to love my 135i but damn the S5 is a good looking car inside and out.

the s5 drove sweet too. audi has come a LOOOONG way in the last few years. they are giving bmw and porsche a real run for their money.

hopefully it causes the competition to step it up as porsche hasn't been creating anything exciting and new since the boxster. the panamera should be interesting

yeah, i hope audi throws free maintenance back in, gives the RS5 a twin turbo V8 (no V10s in todays gas sipping society) producing at least 450 horses, gives it a price under 60k, and I am looking at my post 135i ride!

bmw could learn a thing or two from audi on interiors. the A5/S5 got it's interior from the R8, and the new A4/S4 will get it as well, and it's phenomenal. the seats are unreal, the controls are laid out clean, just enough buttons without idrive, and very current on technology (backup camera, sd card slot, etc). we can't even get park distance control sensors in the front on the 1 or 3 series? wtf???

The R8 interior is very nice and the headroom is very good too. Got to drive around in one recently and it is a kick ass vehicle. The engine sounds amazing and looks good too.

My friend, whose A3 I posted in general cars, waited for a LONG time. His car was missing the price sticker that held his car back at the port for 1-2 months.
