135i (and 335i) remap group buy
Hi guys,
As a couple of you might know, until recently I was very involved in the "Audi scene" in the UK, ran a couple of fairly modded cars and was a member of "The TT-Forum" - kind of this place for Audi TTs. One of the tuners there who always seemed to get good feedback was a company called P-Torque. See http://www.p-torque.co.uk/43.htm Their normal remap price for x35i is £900. If we can get 10 of us toghether, this will go down to £550 - quite a big saving. At the time of writing, they done 16 UK cars: "The 135i/335i are superb cars. I have done around 16 of these now, but they have all come from Total BMW magazine, so I haven't had anyone write a forum review yet. One was a 335i for a customer who wanted it as an everyday car, and also a track toy. Seriously quick machine after the mapping. We charge £900.00 all in for this. All mapping is carried out via the cars OBD port too " If you're interested, let me know and I'll put you on the list. Name / Car CliveD / 135i

getting a remap is the best thing you can do for the coupe, pound per bhp it's the most cost effect way of gaining more horses.
i'm not jacking the thread but there are other companies out there who do this, evolve are one,dms another. i got my 123d coupe done by evolve, cracking company and know what they are doing. before making any choices speak to evolve, then make your mind up. i'm not saying which one to go with, just saying there is more than one tuner. cheers Jonathan Evolve Automotive 0870 0850 111 www.evolveyourcar.com |

But there is only one who has talked to me about a group buy....
I did try to contact Evolve via their website as it happens. The contact page threw a "error '80040e14' Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression" when I hit submit. The only price listed on the website is £1k for the 135i / 335i map, which is a lot more than the group buy figure from P-Torque. We all know there are multiple choices here, several of which I'm sure are are a) fine and b) very similar in their results. I think we'd both agree that the type of remap that Evolve and P-Torque offer is likely to yeild better results than a plug-in box scenario (I think both have seen similar results when checking them out on the rolling road). However, there are threads on the forum to discuss the various options, and this wasn't intended to be one of them - quite how you can claim that posting on a thread about a specific group buy about something else isn't a hijack, I'm not sure ;-) The purpose of this thread is to make people aware of a particular saving I'm negotiated. I'll be happy to participate in a discussion of the merits of various 135i remaps in a dedicated thread once I have some personal experience to post about. Reading your 123D remap thread it sounds like the Evolve 135i remap leaves the car with the same performance as a remaped 123D, which I think I'd find dissapointing...

62bhp and +112Nm - so I guess about 362+bhp and 512Nm. If I recall correctly, my DMS'd 535d had about 500Nm of torque, which was awesome for low end overtaking grunt, so a remapped 135i must be pretty cool!

Wow these figures are impressive. I heard the 135i can throw up a code if it see's more than 350Hp. I think I will hang back on this one until someone has done theirs first, would love to see the results.

Apparently not if the tuner knows what they are doing. From Will at P-Torque: "There will no fault codes thrown at all. In fact, with an intercooler fitted I have mapped one of these to produce 381bhp. I wouldn't quote figures unless they had been heavily tested."
Plenty of people have "gone first" by the sound of it, with P-Torque already having done 16 x35i remaps. Opportunity for a bit of a bargain in the group buy esscolab

sorry clived, got the wrong end of the stick regarding your post. i do agree that the evolve and p-torque remaps are almost the same, nothing in it really, also agree that remaps are far better than tuning boxes.
i do't recall though ever saying my remapped 123d is the same as a remaped 135i, if i did i meant a standard 135i, which still has the edge. |

Will keep my eye on this for reviews.
Not ready to buy yet, still holding out for the DMS solution. Question - What will P-Torque do if your dealer flashes your ECU? This is fairly likely since there is a flash available. My other option is to buy an SSTT when I am either in the states (December) or buy direct from the US - you can get it for around £350. Still, I like to keep my options open... would love to go head to head with a remapped 135i at Santa Pod to see the difference. Running out of dry weather days though.

Evolve remap N54
Hi guys loving the 135i's at the mo..
I drive an 08 E92 335i On the rollers standard the car pushed out 312bhp Had a really good day with Sal and Imran at evolve.. They are top guys.. Very Genuine and helpful!! Couldnt believe how much BHP and TQ i gained after remap.. 385bhp and 425lbs TQ.. It has transformed my car into a beast.. The power delivery is so much stronger and god it pulls you back into your seat!! I Defently prefer the power delivery of the Remap compared to my old JB2 + X Have been running the car for about a month now and have had no Limps or anything!! I Recommend Evolve + Remap to anyone who owns a 335i or 135i in the Uk!! Thanks again Imran and Sal If you mention my username and car.. you will probably get a reasonable discount for being a forum member!! |

Am I missing something here? Is it not possible to start a thread about great remap experiences somewhere other than a group buy thread? ;-)
Good figures though I just wish there were some independant side by side dyno figures comparing the different remaps - dynos and days all vary so it would be great to get some meaningful comparisons. Will Evolve match the group buy price?

But it's bloody expensive considering most maps are around 500-600 quid!
I guess with time the competition will open up and the prices will drop. I'll wait...

That's a pretty good whp number as Dyno Dynamics seem to measure a reasonable bit lower than the Dynojets common in the US. The transmission loss number (20%) looks pretty ambitious to me though

esscolab, evolve are based in luton, you get what you pay for, professional, 100% reliable ,insured re-map. others are avialable though . for those interested in remaping, jump over to babybmw.net. there are hundreds of posts on this subject, discussing different tuners/tuning boxes.
like clived said though, maybe a new thread should be started regarding remaping in general, to compare etc vbmenu_register("postmenu_249238", true); |

Jonny, Agreed.
Now Pandoras box has been cracked open (they said the encrpytion on the new ECU's wasn't crackable) there will be zillions of tuners offering their own versions of ECU maps. This time I'm not jumping in though, I'm gonna wait to see what happens and over time can get a feel of what's the best value for money. An ECU map thread would be ideal so people can way up wich one suits them. I have read threads about oil temps rocketing due to ECU changes and after market oil coolers needing to be fitted. I guess time will tell how good these maps are for the engines.

Just drive your car real hard for 40 minutes or so on a hot day (yeah I know pretty hard in the UK!) and watch the temperature rise - it's quite scary, not sure at what levels it gets dangerous, but there are real reasons to why we don't have foglights and radiators in the wheel arches!!!

Not really - just people posting about other remaps and subsequent lack of solid information about any discounts or group buys *they* were offering.... ;-)
