What do you use to dry your car?
To the pro detailers, what do you find the fastest and safest way to dry? I'm finding it easiest to just use the Absorber from Pepboys to blot the entire car. Then use my van 'n blo to blast the cracks. Finally just use a fluffy microfiber towel to quickly go over the whole car. What do you guys think? I even tried using a leaf blower for the whole car but I'd still rather just use the Absorber to get the majority of the water off.

after final rinse, take off nozzle and rinse the car off. this sheets off most of the water
then, nothing but one waffle weave drying towel does the job for me |

blue microfiber towel
if drying, do not go in circles, only go in straight lines...this minimizes swils and whatnot! and to help dry, you can use the 'flooding' technique where you dump some clean water onto your car and it'll help the water 'spill' off

At Innovative Detailing we first of all use R/O water (reverse osmosis) which is spot free and helps tremendously. After the final rinse we use a S. M. Arnold’s genuine WATER SPRITE®. This is an exclusive, proven, PVA material that gently cleans and dries fine finished surfaces. Then we proceed to use a blower to remove any excess water from cracks and crevaces. The final process would be to use a Blue Mist QD or a Meguiar's #135 with a large supreme shine 16x24 MF towel. Add the final touches, glass, tires, rims and trim......your finished and sparkling!

I use a leaf blower, followed by a soft luxury white towel

I would never use chamois on a car, as they leave behind this sticky residue.
But back to the OP's question, I don't dry my car's at all. I use two different water filtration systems that remove close to 100% of the mineral deposits that make up hard water. The end result is water that just evaporates off the car without leaving water spots. But hey, that's if you're hardcore and are willing to shell out close to 800 clams. |
