Wheel/Tire Warranty
There have been many posts regarding this topic but I would like to reiterate and greatly stress that if you are buying a 1 Series and your delaership does offer a wheel/tire warranty.....GRAB IT!!!
It is the best move you can ever make. I have owned my 135i Vert since September and I consider myself to be a careful driver when it comes to potholes and the like. I have had 3 tires replaced under the warranty already. Even if you don't hit a pothole they will bubble eventually. The roads in New Jersey and New York where I drive are tough. Not sure about where everyone else lives but really, you can't go wrong with this. My God, even if they wear out you are covered. Sorry for the rambling but I had 2 tires replaced the other day, it saved me at least $500 plus mounting fees. The whole 3 year warranty cost me $895. I'm kicking myself for not going for 4 years. That's all. Ted |

..I guess I got a good deal then..
I picked up my new 135 yesterday. They offered me the wheel/tire insurance for $795. When I hesitated for a split second, he said "will you take it for $695?" I said sure. I know the drill because on the MX-5 that I bought last Spring, I have rubbed the curb 3 times on the rear, passenger side rim and have dented it and put a 'digger' in the rubber of the 'run-flat' tire. I figure that a new 18" rim will probably be $300+ and the new tire runs $250, Mazda never said anything about offering a warranty though.
Also, my dealer said that if the tire has more than 3/32" tread left that they will replace the damaged tire too. Even if it is my second set of tires. He said the warranty is good for 5 yrs. too! The wheels and tires are easier to damage because of the tall wheels and the short side wall on the expensive run flats. I think that it is money well spent. ps I'm in Albuquerque |

My dealer never told me about the warranty. I lost a runflat after 7K miles and my SA said why didn't you buy the warranty. I was just like well shit. Long story short I needed winters at that point anyway so I bought them. Dismounted the OEM tires and put the winters on my 264s. I have just about enough to purchase it now so I will mount the Bridgestones and bring em back a week later and just say, "up looks like it broke".

Thats not true. My dealer said that they would cover whatever tires and wheels are on the car. So long as the wheels are OEM offsets and the tires are not radically bigger. They would cover my Pirelli winters and my Continental summers at a 225/40 R18 and 255/35 R18

Yeah, I decided to get it too- I think it was like $600 for three years. I figured one flat tire and it just about paid for itself. Plus the peace of mind. Just picked up my 128i two weeks ago.

We got our tire/wheel insurance through Paragon Motor Club. They already paid (quickly) for a run flat tire replacement. http://www.paragonmotorclub.com
