I'm a big Zaino fan so I use this one that I usually buy as part of the Total Protection Show Car Kit.
The only reason I don't buy the Ultimate Protection Show Car Kit is because I use Lexol for my leather care. Though, I've heard people say good things about the Zaino stuff, so one of these times I'm sure I'll try it.

I've had my car for about a year. It parks in the garage and gets its bath about every other week. Everyone seems to recommend claying at least once a year. I clayed it last week. Honestly, it was a waste of time. The clay looked brand new after doing half the car.
Maybe I should clay it once every 2 years and actually feel the car before deciding to clay.

I really like the Clay Magic Fine Grade Clay Bar and the Chemical Guys Luber. Lots of great options out there, these are just some of my favorites. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I've used both Mothers and Griots......like them both but the mothers was a little softer and I felt a bit easier to work with......

+1 on all the Mother's recommendations. Their kit is easy to use, and comes with the Detailer spray you need. I'll probably clay next summer and make it a once-a-year-during-the-summer kind of thing.

Sonus Green Clay (Chemical Guys used to sell the green clay too) or Riccardo. I use CG Synthetic Quick Detailer for Lube.
It is important to realize that not one company makes the best of everything.

I have been using the Griots clay for years, I like it... What is most important is lubracation. use pleanty of spray and nice even pressure.
DO NOT CLAY more than 2 times a year. If you keep a good clean and wax your paint should resist set in debris... NOT THAT I AM PROMOTING GRIOTS but their BEST OF SHOW WAX is great! |

I go with the Clay Magic blue if I am dealing with a lot of stuff to remove from the paint. It works well, but will remove last-step products (waxes, sealants).
If you want a lighter clay, and want to keep your LSP intact, Sonus green is a great choice. It does fine for light claying, without removing the wax or sealant you worked hard to get there. I keep both around. As a lube, the Clay Magic lube works, or I mix a nice soapy mix of Griot's car wash in my foam gun. Works like a charm. |
