Can't keep the car clean
I have my 128i just about 2 months now... Most every week it has been raining. When the sun comes out, I wash it, then the next day it rains!
FRUSTRAITING! BUT my biggest problem is, I am getting a lot of break dust accumulation on the wheels? It seems a bit more than what I would expect? I am NOT hard on the breaks and I have been driving the car easy thru the break-in period. Does anyone notice an abnormal amount of break dust or is it just that the break pads are wearing in |

BMW's are known for having a terrible amount of brake dust. But that is the price you pay to have good, silent brakes.

Yep. Welcome to brake-dust hell. You can make it better though by applying a good wheel wax, I think.

To make it easier when washing brake dust off put on some wheel sealant or wheel wax. It will make it so much easier when you're washing them. Most of the time you can just spray it off.

Some say that BMW actually stands for
Brake dust on My Wheels. You aren't doing anything wrong unless you don't see lots of dust - then you aren't driving enough. Frequent washing & waxing will help, but luckily, BMW has chosen function (great brakes) over appearance. Tom |

There is no free lunch. Yes, the wheel wax will make cleaning the brake dust much easier, but extra effort to dry, wax and buff. However, the wheel wax does protect the wheel from the brake dust corroding your wheel.

I bought WheelWax to apply to my wheels, haven't gotten around to it yet (going to have to remove them, clean excessively, then wax). My problem is it hasn't stopped raining on and off so I can't even wash my car, let alone jack it up!

You only say that because you haven't tried this teflon spray. You're supposed to put it on a snow shovel and let it dry, and it prevents snow from sticking to the shovel. It's pretty waterproof (no shit), so you can just hose your rims off and they're immaculate.
Give it a try. |

It's not terribly expensive either at $6 a can plus shipping. Just be very careful about overspray, I don't know if it was necessary to take my wheels off, but I didn't want to get it on my brakes. I don't think I get my brakes over ~500F, which is where teflon breaks down, so yeah... It's also fun to spray on linoleum floors. Just washed my car today, it felt AMAZING. They keep calling for rain but it never rains, so I say f**k the weatherman, I'll keep washing my car regardless.
