How sad

Taking the minivan thru the car wash yesterday, there was a brand new BMW 2 cars in front of me going thru. The car didn't have license plate yet. It was less than a month old. I wouldn't take my bimmer thru there. Minivan.... of course

If it's one of those brushless/touchfree ones, I would do it.

No way for me. Strictly hand wash and wax, and only by me. 17,000miles and still looks new. No swirl marks, nothing....Probably was a lease car.........

I didnt even do it when I had a leased vehicle! Hand wash only. My 1999 M Roadsters paint still looks new.

My bigger concern is the damage that is done to the wheels. I did have a wheel damaged by the BMW dealership car wash. And, the one time my Audi A6 went through a car wash it got a few nicks on the wheels. Low profile tires and car washes do not mix for me. If you dont mind nicks and sratches go for it.

One man's BMW is another man's minivan.

I hand wash all my vehicles.

Mine will NEVER go through an automated car wash of any kind.

Hand wash only.

Sorry to break this too you but Your car has gone through an automated car wash. All our cars have. At the Vehicle Preparation Center the automated car wash takes off the worst of the dirt and grime then it goes inside for detailing.

So YOU may never take your car through an automated car wash but it has been though one.

fred, if you were at brown bear, there tunnel isnt that bad, i use it in the winter for the SUV, and i havent noticed much scratching and marring. but yes, i agree, i wouldnt take my 1er through a tunnel, but most people who buy BMWs these days arent buying the car for its performance capabilities but rather its name, thus they have no appreciation for the finish and the quality of the paint...

its a shame
