Tech Inspections
Where do you guys tend to go to get a tech inspection for HPDE and track days that require them? The dealer scares me both for what they would charge and knowing that you are tracking the car, but I can also imagine the look I would get rolling up to a random mechanic to do it...

When I attend HPDE, they normally (your local club or event promotor might be different) allow you to do a self tech inspection and sign the tech inspection paper yourself. Assuming of course you understand how to check the brakes, etc.
Otherwise to be safe take it to shop to do the tech inspection for you.

+1 for AUTOcouture. I tracked my car 15+ times this past season and they've tech'd my car each time. Quality, knowledgeable guys who are avid track junkies too.....

Thanks for the recommendation. Went to autocouture and they were great. Good thorough inspection and you can tell they know what they are doing and actually care.
On top of mine and the owners they also had a red E46 vert, 2011 E92 with full akro and ny BMWCCA plates and a brand new mineral white E93. Nothing makes you more confident than pulling in and seeing 4 other M3s!
