Talking First time Drag Racing! with vids and photos

So I took my barely month old, barely broken in, stock (as of now) 2012 135 M Sport to the local drag strip here in Atlanta. What a blast!

Only 2 other bimmers there, an M3 and a 535 both very far from stock and very fast!

Lots and lots of Mustangs.

Many people wanted to talk to me about the car AFTER I ran it.

First run, lined up against a mustang (in vid below). It was sad. I walked away from him, much to mine and his surprise, as afterwards he pulled up to me and remarked, "That little beauty hauls ass!"
"Thanks, it's stock" I replied
He shook his head, "Well it sure is fast!"

Next couple of runs I flubbed the launch and did not do as well.

Last run though was about as perfect as I could hope for. 13.4s at 102.77mph

Had a great time.

I really was surprised at the reactions from other people as I had no idea what to expect. See vids and photos below.

My buddy shot the first 2 on his iPhone from the stands. The last is HERO mount.

Got a late start on this one as well. But still a good run!

Nice times!!

How did you launch? Did you use Launch Control? Did you leave it in sport and let it shift on its own?

I did use launch control for the best run. Once in LC mode a flag appears on the display. Pretty cool! I just kept the gas floored until the finish line per instructions. Does make me feel kind of passive though, like a passenger. But my other really good run, 13.55s was me shifting with DCT in sport mode.

Can't wait to see how much it improves after Alpina SW upgrade, cold air intake, and exhaust. Coming soon!

What was your 60ft time for the non-launch controlled runs?
Im sure thats where the big difference is.
