1M NSW-Delivery (updated with pictures - lots of 'em!)
Hi guys,
I am so sorry for the extreme delay in posting this, I returned from the trip to a crazy storm! I am at work so will post a few pictures later on but want to take the opportunity for a quick write up. Firstly I got to Wollongong after a relatively uneventful flight - the guy at the dealership was nice enough to pick us up. Firstly, I am glad I do not reside in the 'Gong - not the most pleasant looking place. Had a relatively large BMW dealership though! I had informed the dealer several weeks ago of my plans and I wanted everything ready for when I get back. He had to go on a trip somewhere so had left it his colleague. I got there and nothing was prepared, the car was nowhere to be seen and the guys tell me they've misplaced the code for the Nav and were trying to contact BMW. I figured I waited almost 9 months for this car, so what's an hour or two more - went and got some lunch. After everything they still couldn't locate the code and said they'll call me with the code after I had left. They then pulled the car into the workshop parking lot and the thing wasn't even properly cleaned up. I didn't care and wanted to get on with the show. So we hopped in and set off into the big smoke... All my frustrations soon melted away, this car is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. Love at first site it was! My girlfriend has a beach house in the coastal town of Berrara and the plan was to spend the weekend there and relax while breaking the car in. I had a goal to hit 2000Kms in the 4 days! So we headed down to the beach house in haste since we had a booking at Rick Stein's at Bannisters - was a really great dinner and recommend it highly to anyone! We were then joined by my girlfriend's sister and her boyfriend, who's a designer and car nut - he just got back from meeting the BMW design head - Karim Rashid - I now have a very nice invitation to a private tour in Munich! Him & I took the car down to Bateman's Bay and up the Clyde Mountain and that was such incredible good fun. The car performed like a superstar - I am absolutely amazed by the poise and go-getter attitude of this car. The turbo lag was almost non-existent and it just pulled and pulled! The switchbacks were tackled with glee - we made 3 passes, switching drivers! Needless to say the break-in process was fairly intense! I had the most fun on the way back when we were joined by E46 330ci Coupe and X5-M! The X5-M was absolutely amazing through the corners and I was beginning to doubt my driving skills until I saw the logos! When we parted ways, the guy then waved and asked if it was a 1 or 3??? We spend the next two days exploring the NSW South Coast - Zuzu told me it was God's country - it was indeed - such an amazing place with gorgeous views, gorgeous roads and the weather was beautiful and sunny but cool. I decided a house there is definitely on the cards for next 2 years! Finally Monday came and we took the car back to the dealership to be serviced and trucked up home to Darwin. 1680kms on the clock! Gratz!!! The x5m is a gem. Every time I drive the 1M it keeps surprising me. Can't believe you have it run in at the same time as me!
It has been raining since it ticked over the 2k, so still haven't got a good chance to play with it. Best place to be is at 4k rpm.

Thanks FJP. We only have the track to go to! Or there's always Litchfield - maybe we'll take them out there when she gets here. Called Toll and they said it was en-route to Darwin now - so could be here this week! |

Looks fantastic! I can't believe how low it sits straight from the factory.
So how much do these things actually cost? I'm currently looking at 2nd hand C63's I'm assuming the 1M is in the low $100k mark? Not that Id even get one even if I wanted there probably all sold. John. |
