Garage List
2010 135i  [8.90]
keep revs at 3k, drop the clutch and modulate throttle accordingly to eliminate wheel spin

What is your 60' time? I would expect a decent 60' to be around 1.8 - 1.9 with street tires. Will also depend on what clutch, tires, suspension. Are you bogging or getting too much wheel spin?

You probably already know this, but just in case..... You try and achieve a little balance of wheel spin vs bogging, in my experience, it's a tire screech without going to a full blown burnout.

Just my $.02, haven't taken out the 135i to the strip, but have done so with quite a few other cars all F/I. 1.81 with the 03 cobra with stock tires and a 1.69 for the STI with stock tires and exhaust. Understand the STI is awd though.....

You need some dragtires like Mickey Thompson or Nitto tires. Then you can get better 60' times.

I launch like I would leave a stoplight, low in the rpm range, just do everything a little faster. That's on street tires, some Mickey Thompsons would be key if you want to drop down to 1.8s or better.

The trick is avoiding wheel hop AND avoiding too much bog. I find that launching with a slight amount of wheelslip to where the car is just about to bog and then going WOT gets the fastest 1st and 2nd gear.

The surface also plays a big factor of course.

Make sure your tires are warm. Try holding your revs around 2,800RPM and let the clutch out fast without dropping it (to not shock the tires). As you are letting the clutch out feed some throttle in. By the time you are 100% engaged you should be 100% throttle.

This whole process only takes about 3/4 of a second. The results should be a clean launch with slight wheelspin and NO wheelhop.
