The winter compound will probably have more traction. Most summer performance tires are hard as a rock and perform very poorly below 40F.

I've seen it done but I wouldn't recommend it. Winter rubber is very soft and will wear or chunk heavily during such use. If the rubber is at winter wear bar indicator I wouldn't hesitate though, might as well have some fun if the tire will not be used for next season

Here is some valuable advice. Full A6 Hoosier Slicks with NO tread are better in the 40 deg, cold rainy days, then street tires are, unless their are standing puddles on the course route. Take the advise as you will.

i expect it to look something like this. It's the same place, just that it was probably even colder in January
http://www.flickr.com/photos/zm42006...7629092247915/ I'll opt out if I'll destroy my Winters. As I don't wanna switch to Summer just for this event and then switch back to Winters to use my last day of pass for Snowboarding, and then back to Summer again... That said, I do want to go to an AutoX event in the rain as I bet I'll learn a lot from the wet pavements... but yeah, I'm lazy in changing tires back and forth.... I don't know about the A6's but my BFGR1 felt like on ice with just damp surface. last weekend I went out to the track with 40 deg temps and my slicks were very unpredictable and nervous.
