Just put in ESS 575 kit, vid included
So I'm a happy clown now wow, what an amazing kit, and what amazing things the car does right now.
I did the installation myself, in a auto hobby shop. Honestly, you don't need any fancy tools to do the instal, but having a lift available helped. Also, I did 95% of the instal myself, only in couple of spots I needed a hand. Mind you, I never did anything bigger than Downpipe's, couple of CAI's, oil changes and brakes, that's all of my experiences. The instal took 17 hours, but if I had to do it again I would get it done in half time for sure. SOoooo I'm stationed in Germany, and I had to do top speed run.... so in comparison to prior runs (Car has hfc and xpipe, +ess tune) I was able to hit 200mph, but only on certain roads that would have long enough straight, and honestly the car crawled after 180mph... so with the supercharger I hit 209 MPH (336km/h), and I did it on a local strech, and with such ease... honestly, if I had more gears (I have a 6spd) it would do a lot more, as it still pulled very strong. I accidentally hit the rev limmeter about 5 times so far and I have never done that before... is that like really bad? This supercharger seems to pull and pull, it feels like the car should have like a 9k rpm redline to use all that. here is a quick vid... started in 3rd I dunno how ppl get 6 sec 60-130mph runs Last edited by GrumpyBimmerFan; 05-22-2012 at 12:46 AM.. Congratulations!
I'm very jealous of the kit and your location in relation to the autobahn. You could try a larger oil cooler. People have been installing the M24 here with good success |

You should be fine with the transmission. There are many people, including myself, with power levels even higher than yours are the clutches are holding up fine.
The car itself stays very cool even with the supercharger. |

If you are running in the 210 or slightly higher range you are perfectly fine. As mentioned already you can always add an aftermarket oil cooler if you want. The stock clutch is perfectly fine and it is ok to hit the rev limit. Once you get used to the added speed of the tach you will get better at avoiding the limit

Oh snap ... is that 78,xxx kms or miles on your car? Being a high mileage M3, did you have to perform any precautions before installing the ESS kit? ... like compression check. Damn thats a lot of miles.

Your temp guage on the vid looks normal!! mine sits between 190 - 210F when hot.
Also, 210F is only around 98 degrees celcius... almost enough to boil water. So I am sure your fine. |

superfly: that's in km/h (my digital is set to km so it's easier to follow the 50km/h speed limit in town). So in miles it's a bit under 50k. No, I did not do anything to check the car.
575 kit comes with an intercooler. yea, I'm a bit more calm about the temp now. thanks |

and yes it is 9pm and still light out
BrainoffJJJ: Yes, I am very fortunate to be here in Germany... I generally don't like it here, but the autobahns are more than a good enough reason to endure anything! SehrSchnell: when I shift i feel a bang in the back (never had that before), like hard engaging (reminds me of my brothers M6 when it shifted, and he had automatic). |

ok, thanks! car feels a bit more jerky than before (when I let off gas at high rpm), but I guess it's expected.
regarding high speeds, you know, it's funny, but I am soo used to those speeds, and I feel very comfortable at them. Anything under 140mph doesn't bother me. I am still cautious, as people can fly into a left lane easily (it's a myth that germans don't go into a left lane, they just don't cruise in it, but will not hesitate to cut in front of you). |

I have fabspeed high flow cats and xpipe. According to ESS that should add another 25-30 hp, so I should be around 600hp at the crank.
Guys, I will make another video of the car I just need to find a passanger that is willing to sit in with me at over 200 mph. Also, it is very hard to find a good angle to film from... any advice? |
