GoPro positions

I just got a GoPro Hero2 for my bday. Pretty awesome. Just took it for a quick spin. Stuck it straight on my windscreen sticking straight upright, video quality is great, but the wind noise was terrible above about 40km/hr.
Anyone got any hints as to where are some good spots to mount the gopro to reduce wind noise??

Kenny's got a mean setup on his car for 6-7 cameras so would know all the best angles. I've got a setup for 4 for mine.

I use roof rearward/roof forward/ interior cabin showing driver and through windshield and a lower one down near the front wheel or off the drivers/passanger window shooting forward on the outside of the car.

Did you use the waterproof case? That cuts down on noise.

I hav mounted a lot of GoPRos on my 135 and made a quick video to show .. will try to find it and post it up.

I bought an extra waterproof casing, used a drill to make a hole just large enough for a 3.5mm extension cable (thus retaining its waterproof guise), then ran that cable inside the car through to the boot and plugged it into an external mic taped on the rear bumper.

External mic has some foam cable-tied around it to reduce wind noise. A pretty neat setup if I may say so myself

Oh and camera position I use is between the washer jets on the bonnet. The cable is taped down to avoid interference with the window wipers.

ps: happy birthday pal!

I've mounted the GoPro just behind the drivers side wheel arch, bolted it to the front number plate (for a real low down perspective) - pretty much everywhere the suction cup mount will stick to. Wind noise is always going to be a bother so you'll just have to do some post-production work.

Absolutely love the Hero2. There are many awesome vids on their website!

The built in mic sucks on the GoPro. Try using an external mic. But you will need to cut up the water proof case to mount the mic on the side.

The ad on ebay.com where I bought mine from was titled: GOPRO HD HERO2 STEREO MICROPHONE AUDIO ACCESSORY

But at the moment they do not have any Sony mic's listed. I would keep searching. This Sony mic normally runs $60.

You can even use a cheap PC mic and try that. I saw some videos on Youtube showing decent sound even with a cheap $6 pc mic plugged into the GoPro!

I'm using this $25 external mic from Jaycar Electronics. So far so good.

Thanks for the input guys.
I used the non waterproof case, i will give the waterproof case a shot - as the manufacturer says waterproof case is for >100km/hr.
Will be great to see the vid of the camera locations.
But it seems like a cheap small microphone may be the way to go?

DAMM... thats a lot of GoPro's!!! How do you turn all of them on? Do you have the WiFi back(s) ?

PS: You need one of the front suspension to get that tire up/down shot.
