Hockenheim anyone?
I see a lot of us are becoming familiar with the Nurburgring, and getting a lot of laps in there, but I haven't heard a lot of talk about Hockenheim.
I was checking out their site a bit, but couldn't get much. There are a lot of events upcomming, and even if we don't get to hit the track, either their Ring, or their 1/4 mile track, we could still all have a meet up for a race. http://www.hockenheimring.net/events#events-list Events all the way till November posted for now. Thought about this on the way home the other night from our meet at Nordschleife, as we passed Hockenheim they were having a night event and fireworks went off, made me think we could try and have something there. Also, there is a Hooters about 35 minutes south of Hockenheim, could go race, then hit hooters for beer and wings. Stuttgart is about 40 minutes away from that Hooters, so it could be a weekend thing, if you guys have never been to the Mercedes museum, I really recommend it! Anyways, just all ideas for now, trying to get an early plan going. Cars, racing, Hooters, and beer is always a fun plan! Ideas? Feedback? David

Hockenheim is only an hour south so I'd be up for a meet there. I haven't seen the Mercedes museum yet but I have been to the Technik museum in Speyer. I recommend checking that one out if you haven't yet.

Hockenheim would be on my to do list too, not even 1 hour away. I don’t remember who said something about Hockenheim last weekend, but I think they said the tourist drive is on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
Shouldn’t Stuttgart have a Porsche museum to? Believe it or not I have never been to Hooters…

My experience with Hooters restaurants haven't been good: Overpriced mediocre wings and domestic beer served by women who couldn't care less about your meal unless you were wearing a suit and paying with a company credit card.
Which is sad because I like chicken and I love hooters.

I'm game 100% of the way! The rush you get for the 20minutes on that track is almost equal or greater than the 'Ring! Only because there are about 30 other cars out there trying to do the same thing you are. Anyhow, the tourist rides on Tues/Thurs is mainly for people to "buy" out the track for those times. Example; Brembo is testing a new brake setup for R8's, so they "buy" the entire track for the night to allow for testing, car reviews, etc. If we can get a big group of us together then we can do the same. The big benefit would be that we get the entire track to ourselves for an hour or two. |

Buying out the track for 2 hours is an idea I can get behind.

The "security" guy when I was there last time said that if we can get upwards of 15 people, then you are talking the price for 4 laps on the 'Ring... ballparked. Which to me, is freaking outstanding!
If this goes anywhere, then I think an ad to Ramstein Yard Sales and a friendly offer to the MFlight guys would be in order. Discuss |

My buddy with the E46 is in already.
I can give a shout to a few of my buddies here, as well as put it up on Stuttgart yard sales. We thinking some time in September for this? Labor day weekend is no good for me, but any other should be ok.

Buying out the track would be awesome. However, there should be a time during the week that anyone can drive the track. Sessions are 12 minutes and it starts at 1500 or 1530 I believe.

I've driven Hockenheim about five-six times, always during tourist drive. It is intense and challenging as these days/nights bring out hundreds of cars. The price is right at 12€ for 20minutes, but the chance to bump and crash is huge. Especially the tight hairpin after the long straight and left-curving sweeper that you can hit 135mph on. Pisten club rents the track and let's members drive all day for 350€. Just a thought if you wanted a club day.

Drove Hockenheim today...it rocked!
Hockenheim rocked today...during our M Intensive training, Rudi and I drove an M3 almost 260 kilometers...on the track!... It wasn't cheap but what a value for our euros....and being environmentally conscious getting 30 liters per hundred kilometers according to the internal menu...photos and videos to follow, both of us are wiped out!
