mines a convertible.. add to the list;

-clanging windows when they all come up
-dash trim popping up
-steering wheel flaking
-roof getting stuck half way through coming off (reported this a number of times and was assured nothing wrong with it. I now have to give it a lil push as it goes back)
-wastegate rattle
-dash top storage compartment is hard to open
-seat handle (up top to make the seat fold) has popped out
-the amount of heat in the foot well (esp in summer, have to have the AC on at feet whilst cruising with the top down)

and these are just off the top of my for now.

Omg yes the convertible top issues.

When I first got mine I had an issue where the roof would get stuck and I had to open and close it half it again for it to work. Eventually I heard a loud snapping noise and it kind of started to work properly. Took it in to BMW and they said nothing was wrong.

Also had the windows rattle a lot. Every time I would go over a bump they would rattle against each other if the roof was off. They ended up taking apart the car to retighten some window mechanism or whatever but tried to blame a driver side accident when it was a passenger side window issue. Fuckers...

Then I had a rattling inside the roof. Turned out to be a loose clip. I just pulled it back into place.

Lastly, if I don't use the roof for a bit it will get stuck and it needs a little push. Probably just needs to lubricant somewhere I reckon.

But yeah Thony, you got bad luck man...

A blown head gasket is a common problem? What's the repair bill on that Pete?

Injectors
Cracked rocker cover (above cylinder 4). Nothing like a sh#t ton of oil filling up your plug/injectors holes and leaking into the engine fouling everything up.

Garage List
2008 BMW 135i  [0.00]
2012 BMW 535i  [0.00]
These issues are confirming my decision to keep the car stock. Once you start cranking more power out of an engine, stuff that may have gone wrong starts happening sooner.

All cars have issues. No design is ever perfect. That's why you need to find yourself a good workshop.

To add to the list:
- Auto dip mechanism in passenger side mirror stopped working on mine and was replaced under warranty.
- Battery cable recall done last year

Mines 5.5years and 55k.

The only fault of note and I'm not sure it's a fault is that the steering is very noisy/grindy at parking speeds.

The cranky windows happen sometimes, but not often.

Oh and the steering wheel is flaking a little.

Overall nothing much, the steering concerns me ever so slightly.

I got the recall last month from my local dealer.

I still drive as per normal, got PPK2 in my car.

When it's cold I go easy and gentle, once it hits the normal temperature I will drive it like it was STOLEN, WOT all the way

No doubt our 135's is a good car but the reliability of it really worries me.

I have done numerous warranty claim on my car, my claim fills out one full A4 page.

I plan to keep the car for good also.

Things like the HPFP, water pump, oil filter housing gasket, PCV, turbo seals, wastegate rattle all happen on stock cars as well. It could be argued that modding the car may accelerate or increase the chance of failure but I guess you might as well have more fun whilst the car is working fine and not worry about it too much haha. If it happens it happens.

I agree there is no design that is 100% perfect and free from failure. All moving parts and sits in differents cliamate will have a effect.
I just wanted to gauge the range of things that could potentially fail in the future.

I LOVE MY 135i regardless!
