Need Help ,Car shuddering at idel?
Hi all
got an N55 135i, FBO stage 2 PTF car was runing fine for 4 monthes after all the aftermarket parts recently i feel like my car shuddering a lot when come to a red light.i mean you can strongly feel the shake at steering wheel . most happen at low rmp, got it checked , said it might be the Vanos unit thats been recalled? or what do you think? anyone in similar situation? oh, there is once i didnt warm up the car and floor it, then engine light came on, says reduce the power or whatever, but i clear the code and restarted the car, it gone and didnt happen again until couple weeks later i was reving up to around 3.5 to 4k to warm up the car, and the engine light came in again. would this be damaging something inside the engine that caused shuddering ? My 2011 N55 shutter and serges forwards when coming to a hult at a set of nights every now and then. It has been happening around 2 years now, no one seems to be able to resolve it. So im thinking its normal for N55 as I know of.
Reving up to 3.5 - 4k that is fairly high- correct me if im wrong... That is like normal driving to me! When engine light comes on after giving it, does not sound good. BMW Aust just Started a Recall campaign about 3-4 weeks ago after a month or two when the BMW Germany has announce it to the world. My car was part of the recall group. BMW Aust are still waiting for parts to arrive. You should Check with your dealer to get an early book in. |

I had a similiar issue (rough idle, jerky sensation at low rpms oh and a misfire) changed my plugs and it was much better! I still had issues, which was rectified with new vanos solenoids and wideband sensors, albeit in your case I would guess these items should still be OK with such limited use so perhaps try plugs first and then if you still have issues get an indy involved? Does it start fine (no excessive cranking?) and does it cold idle smoothly? |

As Jin has already said, you will need to check the codes to get an more definitive answer i.e. misfire on which cyclinder, fuel pump, VANOs etc
Misfire codes can be a bit trickier... I've currently got one on high RPM and active motorwerkes changed the coil with no result. Going back to try to sparks this time around! |
