Hi there- I actually purchased the Emtronika 5DN (Parking Professional Plus) Retrofit for G05. My installer ran into some trouble and couldnt complete it because of the wiring harness/ cables issue. Would you mind sharing the ISTA wiring Diagram? Have a 2023 G05, pre-LCI

Here’s link to Emtronika, and I emailed them directly with my VIN and they confirmed compatibility.

Hey man, I too have a 2023 g05. How does the quality of the kit seem to you from Emtronika? In terms of your issue with installing, was it more to do with the kit not being good, or installer lack of knowledge, which is why you asked for ISTA diagram?

Hi guys,

I bought the Emtronika kit despite some misgivings due to their poor presales. To be honest they were pretty rude - I simply asked if there was a way to have panoramic view without the gearshift located camera button and they just fobbed me off with a 'the 360 activates automatically' - which is partially true - but without that expensive gearshift console swap - you'll never have the 180 degree wide-angle view. To be honest apart from that the parts were sent same day and arrived from Lithuania to Italy in 2 days - and are 100% OEM and latest firmware so I can't really complain. The kit includes :

4x cameras (all the same)
the iCam module (the brain)
mirror bottoms and internal brackets to secure the cameras
rear boot/trunk handle to adapt to the new camera
4x wiring looms

I was worried I might need the camera mount for the grill but it seems that the dummy that is installed can be adapted to house the camera.

What they don't include of course is the camera button that sits between the PDC and Start/Stop buttons next to the gear lever. That requires the complete Gearshift console to be swapped out with one almost identical to yours - apart from of course the camera button - which makes it tricky to source. New they are 1000eur+ I bought mine used for 250eur from Allegro in Poland but was very lucky as they usually sell for 500+ (plus it was mint and an MSport like the one I was replacing)

I was initially hoping to avoid that and find someway in iDrive or via voice you could activate panoramic view but nope - needs the replacement gearshift console.

The installation was done by a local BMW specialist here in Milan. So far I am over the moon with it. He VO coded it on the BMW servers with Ista/Esys so hopefully no risk of losing the coding if ever re-flashed by main dealer during servicing. In the car everything works perfectly as per OEM.

I was hoping that the 360 remote view will show up in the app soon as I have the full connected drive plus services - but so far all I'm being offered is the drive recorder (which I will buy anyway for 69eur a year) - it's anyway a good sign the BMW now knows I have 5DN on the car since this wasn't offered before in the available options. It's been 2 days - but I was advised it could take up to 72 hours for the VO coding to propagate to all the servers and force a refresh on the app.

I've tried logging out and deleting the app today but still no sign of the remote 360 view in the app. There is a risk that it will never appear due to VIN entitlement on the BMW backend servers - or it could be banned in Italy for privacy reasons (just spoke to Raf at Afterone and he suggested it could be that - really supernice and helpful guy).

Even so, it's worth every penny - I'll post some videos when I get chance so that you can see what you'll be getting. Could you skip the pano-view - to be honest yes, it's still great without it. My logic was just that when it comes to reselling the car - you either have 360, or you don't. If that button isn't there it will be obvious it was a retrofit - and then a converstation starts...

Cheers. Kev

Had mine done in the UK.
https://www.afterone.co.uk/products/bmw-360-camera-retrofit-genuine-with-professional-fitting-service?variant=54923846058371

It has also enabled Drive Recorder,Remote 3d Camera view and Remote Parking.
The excellent coding has not been affected by recent software updates.
Hello mate. I spoke to Raf at afterone today - great guy - just a quick question if I may - did you have the connected drive package before the retrofit? If so was there a delay before this 360 remote view showed up in the app or did you need to do something (apart from the privacy settings, and update apps from iDrive). I'm 72h in and wondering if something was missed from the coding.

Maybe I'll send my VIN over to Raf and he can check it - but suggested checking with BMW Italy in case there was some local laws preventing it but aparently not - so it 'should' work in theory...

Thanks in advance. Kev

All the cameras including Panoramic View (without a dedicated console button) worked immediately after installation.
The Drive Recorder and 360 Surround View worked about a month later.
I think it was a remote software update that triggered them.

This is very helpful as this is the ONE feature my car is missing for it to be "perfect". X5 is big, and for my wife when she drives it, lacking the 360 view is somewhat painful. Given how wide these tires are as well, you really want to get into a parking spot as accurately as possible.

May I ask what the expected cost for labor is? You also had to change out your mirror housing, correct?

Great, there's hope then :happyanim: -

Out of interest how do you activate the 180 degree pano view without the button?

I found that without doing anything the car switches to display the front wide angle camera as soon as I get close enough to an obstacle - which also then pivots as the car in front pulls away. Looks like this :

https://1drv.ms/i/c/c6088eb46eb27ce6/IQCtT7w2JwTIQ468do-C4cqmASZqMr7uxQsX8Asl4tbLve4?e=thNvuN

To be fair in my case that looks very similar to pano - but the only way I can get the full 180 (left, centre and right images stitched) is with the button or when I get to a programmed GPS activation point.

So in my case, when panoramic view is visible all you see on the screen is that and the option to set the GPS activation spot (which is super cool as it switched on panoramic automatically as soon as I approach the front gate).

https://1drv.ms/i/c/c6088eb46eb27ce6/IQAR_jClTWxUQbvAX_7Yl3iNAcbHlM1qEBq8YLumll41bZY?e=7FnAW6

Was it worth the extra money? - time will tell if I use it as much as I thought I would... be gutted to hear that I wasted 250 after all if there's a trick to activating panoramic that I missed - unless you have an LCI model and iDrive 8 - in which case I could well believe it.

Thanks for the glimmer of hope on the connected drive services. I know there's no firmware newer than the 2024 version for my 2019 model as BMW just flashed it a couple of months ago (OTA was failing every time), but hopefully the OTA push of connected drived applications and services might get triggered by the VO being propagated and then pushed out...

Another question, on top of the one i just asked:

So in your case, your current setup does not have the dedicated camera button? And overall you are pleased with this?

I guess that is what i'm trying to decide how much I need the full shifter surround retrofit. My panel today is perfect condition, and it has the crystal shifter and dial...so i feel unless going used route, the cost will add up too much for this to be worth it. But if i can skip installing a new shifter console, then i'm more willing to try this.

Yes, it's a bit of a gamechanger for a big car like the G05.

I'd budget 1000eur for parts and 1000eur for labour. At least here in North Italy. It was 1.5 days work for my installer.

The mirror covers needed to be changed as did the boot handle as they need to hold the little square cameras perfectly in place (there are also mounting brackets for that).

If you have an LCI and there's a way to activate Panoramic from the iDrive (as it seems from Adi) I'd skip the gear console swap. Finding a used one with the same buttons as yours in good/mint condition could be a bit of a challenge and will add at least 300-600eur to the cost for something that's really not essential. It can also be done later (but would probably need coding).

Jealous to hear that even remote parking came alive for Adi. I have the display key but never use it. If I could have that cool feature where you swipe down on the key display and the car came out from a tight space it would be amazing but I don't think it was possible on the pre-LCI...

I have LCI and iDrive 8.

GPS activation spot is a great feature to switch on Panorama View automatically when more wide view vision is needed.
At other locations to move from the standard assist view you can select Panorama View by the touchscreen or toggle the iDrive controller.

I had the cameras fitted in October last year and it was a remote software in November that activated Drive Recorder, Remote Parking and Remote 3D Cameras. All are shown as an unlimited term connection at no cost in the MY BMW App.
