M50iX5 wroteI will do only downpipes first then decide if I want to remove the stock resonator. I will post vids after. My hope would be in the next month or two. ARM has a catless downpipe for crazy cheap, but they do not have any bracket for the pipe. That means the exhaust front is hanging on the downpipe which is now hanging on the turbo v-band. I am not sure if I am comfortable with that or not. I am still debating that.Hi has anyone just done the X pipe resonator replacement and the exhaust flap mod? If yes how's the sound?
130FeetDeep wroteI did this on my modified M50i888RRE wroteThe only thing is that if you do downpipes in the future, this will be obnoxiously loud.See below the detailed photos. I am very happy with it.
. OPFs out, replaced the cats with two 200cell ones. Damn, it'a loud and a little bit drony at 3-4k rpms. Sounds like the concept M8 Competition on youtube.I will reinstall only the OEM mid-resonators
x5m50i wroteThat is exactly why I am keeping those resonators for now.I did this on my modified M50i. OPFs out, replaced the cats with two 200cell ones. Damn, it'a loud and a little bit drony at 3-4k rpms. Sounds like the concept M8 Competition on youtube.

888RRE wroteNice job. What was the inside diameter of the piping you used?? 2.5 inches??See below the detailed photos. I am very happy with it.
Tim2189 wroteevery cold start makes me smileI took out the resonator and tap welded the flaps to always stay open
Alan l. wroteLuckily I live in a building with outside parking lotExcept your neighbors won't be lol....
I cant imagine having this set up living in a house or suburbs
Tim2189 wroteGreat sound! Any noticeable drone on highway or normal driving?I took out the resonator and tap welded the flaps to always stay open
Tim2189 wroteHave you ever tried a cold start in sport mode?I took out the resonator and tap welded the flaps to always stay open
hkleyman wroteYup that's exactly what that video is hahaTim2189 wroteHave you ever tried a cold start in sport mode?I took out the resonator and tap welded the flaps to always stay open
888RRE wroteIs this video with streight pipes or x pipe? Hows the drone inside with x pipe.here is the launch, will try upload the revving shortly
888RRE wroteSo I have a 50i and was planning on doing this exact thing, delete resonator and install straight pipes. Just curious, if you and other don't mind sharing what they paid for to do that? I'm in NY and I'm looking at pricing with some shops. Also, is that stainless steel? Does it make a difference stainless or not?straight pipes, not sure how the X pipe would be any different.
Thanks
G050i wroteI got my resonator delete done at joeys diagnostics on Hylan Blvd in Staten Island, paid around 200-250So I have a 50i and was planning on doing this exact thing, delete resonator and install straight pipes. Tim2189 wroteThanks for sharing what you paid. That was around what I thought it would be too.
Did you do x or straight?
And it could be me or maybe the 2nd video you sent was from further away but the first video you shared of the cold start sounds way different than this last one. Is it me? Just sounds more subdued on the initial start for some reason.
G050i wroteThe 2nd video I had the car running an hour prior. The first video it cooled off overnight so it had a much louder start upTim2189 wroteThanks for sharing what you paid. That was around what I thought it would be too.

I did straight pipe resonator delete
Seriously concerned about DRONE inside the cabin at highway speeds. Rather than going straight pipe or X-pipe.... I was actually thinking about doing an old-school H-pipe instead, and shooting for that "muscle car" sound. Same concerns though..... Drone.
Ninefourteener wroteHonestly I dont notice any drone, then again im always in sports plus manually shifting city or highway so I wouldn't really notice it.I've been seriously thinking about doing this since the very first post.
