You are a G05 god for sharing this! I really appreciate you taking the time to share all of this with such detail. Thank you!!!

Been looking for this the center part as i have the M sport like you and found it used on eBay but most are scratched up. Mine just have 2 ugly holes in em from the dealer installing the plate :(.
Might have to bite bullet and get it new. Where did you get yours btw?

I got mine from there as well

$241.08 after tax and shipping
Looks like price went up from when I bought it at $203.22.

The bright side is that this part is cheaper than having to replace the entire front bumper!!

Thank you for writing this up and taking pics along the way. I just got my X5 M Sport and was debating between this and bumper plugs, but could not find a good write up. I would much prefer to replace the entire part for a clean look.

Did you happen to damage or have issues with any clips? I’m always nervous to undo pressure-fit clips because sometimes you get those one or two that just don’t quite go back to where they should or a clip that gets mangled and never holds the same. A perfect example of this, my dealer replaced the front grille and the last clip on the driver’s side sits just outside its slot which while the grill is fastened, it is not fit like it was from the factory. But those are just my experiences (or maybe it’s just me haha).

It will be inevitable that the clips are mangled from first fit but if done correctly you shouldn’t have any issues as you described

Great information, thanks for the details BzsBimmer.

Bringing this thread back to life - has anyone tried this option? Half the price of the OEM piece...

Interesting, curious on what gets posted or if you try it and give us feedback. It doesn’t say what the finish is on the piece.

Good morning,

Have any of you tried removing these two side panels to remove the plastic piece holding them in place? I'd be interested to know if it's necessary to remove the bumper entirely or if you can simply unhook the clips and slide them off.An image attached to this post, provided by the poster

I removed my bumper to swap those out but I think if you yank hard enough they do come out because the clips are facing that direction. I could be wrong so don’t pull off your front bumper by yanking lol.

Maybe someone else can chime in. I need to pull my bumper off to swap my DRL but that won’t be for a while

Id also like to know how to remove this trim. I have two fresh gloss black trims to install sitting in the box.

So, what was the resolve, did you do it yourself and remove the trim and if so, how did it go? I am in the same predicament with a used X5 that is being delivered this week from California. Thank you for any input you can provide.
