starlights wroteDunno what the offset variance is among OE wheels, but I agree with you wholeheartedly - BMW blaming TC failure on the use of spacers is utter BS.Your hypothetical statement above is accurate from physics perspective and I agree with your assessment, however my counter argument against BMW’s stance to blame spacers would be that there are many OEM wheel options with high enough offset which push out the wheels similarly. From physics perspective both scenarios should have same effect on TC. No?
But note to self: remove spacers and make sure tires are OE sizes before bringing car in to BMW for drivetrain issues.
After that happened and reading about all of the other costly issues with my model, I made the decision to part ways with BMW since it became clear it would become a money pit when I could potentially be looking at another $30k+ in major component failures like the plastic oil pump etc.. I have not replaced the fluid and prefer not to throw good money after bad so I passed on another bill since the vehicle is going away.
