Hi Guys,

I am newbie here, recently i got my BMW X5 xDrive40i 2020 (Indian Model) and found Driving assistant professional is missing but it has Parking assistant plus feature.

Could anyone help me if i can retrofit ACC to my car? if yes, what all parts are required.

It's not easy, but definitely doable. Check your local services that specialize on BMW who can retrofit.

You will need:
- cruise control radar
- on the top of the windshield if you have a camera with one lens, you will be able to enable only active cruise control. If you also want a lane keeping, you need to update it to 3-lens system
- new buttons on the steering wheel to change the distance
- for the full DAP, you will also need to install 4 radars in the bumpers, so that the car can avoid collisions
- wiring for all these
- coding

Don’t think any retro fitting of this nature is possible on LCI models due to the new secure coding unless it is sanctioned by BMW themselves for something like a towbar installation

I do not know if this is possible. Your best option is to access your Connected Drive account and see what official options are available for your vehicle. If 9QV is available then you will either pay a yearly subsciption or a once off payment. BMW will then send/upload a digital Certificate/FSC code to enable the feature Failing this your local dealer may be able to enable it.

Can you pm me your VIN # i can check your FA and see what hard ware you have and what optional preparations are listed and available to be retro enabled.

I know X5s sold in some European markets are fitted with optional hardware but not enabled at the factory The features are retroenabled by the dealer at the customers request after extra payment is made. ie something like the recent heated seats subscription fiasco

I also wrote to ConnectedDrive support about this situation. They said I don't have Driver Assistance Plus because I don't have 9QV. 9QV can be installed only in the factory during the car production, and none of the dealerships will install it, even if it is only 2 buttons, and I have a radar.
Rude answer of BMW and zero flexibility...

There is also a forum member (Sangria) on the G20 forum that has retrofitted 5AU to his 3 series He has a detailed thread documenting the process and the amount of work required to do it which I can guarantee no BMW dealer would attempt anywhere in the world as I don’t think BMW would sanction it due to the complexity and cost

Yes, DA Pro is a highly complicated thing, but DA Plus is much simpler, mainly based on FRR-02 radar that I already have.

Driver Assist Plus (5AT) was the upgrade to 5AS in the previous generation F15 X5 and was superceded by 5AU/5DF in the Pre LCI G05 which is now superceded by Highway assistant (5AX) in the LCI model which you now have.
I am not sure if BMW still offer 5DF as an option in the LCI model but looking at the technical document the only hardware change would be the steering wheel in the Pre LCI model. I do know the camera hardware has changed in the LCI model not sure about the steering wheel.

If you look carefully at your link for 5AT you posted, the steering wheel buttons shown in the advert are for the previous generation F series steering wheel.
