Talk to smithf80's user avatarsmithf80 he will take great care of you! He just setup a deal for me and I couldn’t be happier!

I agree - Scott took great care of me and lived up to everything he promised! He took care of everything and even lined up a great deal on a custom order. I got exactly the spec I wanted, a great deal, and zero hassle.
Thank you both for the kind words!

Could you have gone with something in stock or custom order? If so, is the deal better one way or another? I'd be looking at a 27 as my current BMW lease is up in early Aug, 2026
It's really not much of a difference with us, although I know you and I have already been in touch.

As mentioned, you may get a little more off with an in-stock one but nothing that should sway your decision. Just get the vehicle you want optioned the way you want it.

It likely will be tough to get much of a discount at all given your timing. You would be much better off going with a MY26. The MY27 supply may be down in the beginning of the run and would think the discount certainly would be.

I think I would regret spending north of 70 and having a "old" style for 39 months or longer if I purchase so I'd personally take the risk with a 27. Staying in a X3 (2027) is also very much in play should a no discount X5 be in the cards but tbh not loving the new x3 design

Yes, that is something you will need to decide. Have you seen the new X5, are you liking that better?

I haven't really seen any pics with clarity, I have seen the wrapped car pics and drawings but nothing with clear and real photos or videos. Please show me a link if I missed it

It hasn't been released yet but the interior will be iDX based, as will all models going forward, so it will be like the iX3.

Interesting, not sure I love it but it is happening throughout car manufacturers so it is what it is. Not loving the current interior dash.screen look tbh

Wow, I think it looks terrible especially if they use the cheap X3 fabric anywhere around the dash area. I'm not sure how many people want this in an X5? It's basically an Ix3 and a tesla interior all in one.

Agree, it's a trend I think we'll have to deal with unfortunately. I also dislike the cheap plastics and lighting overuse

Looks terrible.

A good friend is about to put an order for a 2026 (good looking) X5 bec of the direction BMW has been going.

Newer always isn't necessarily better.

I rushed to order a 2026 X5 m60i just because I knew I was going to really hate the new 2027 especially the interior. Thou, I do think the rear may look good. For me, the G05 M60i is just about perfect in both looks and interior quality.

Just ordered (last week of Jan) a 2026 x5 M60 / performance pickup in GSP / pickup last week of Feb.

10% off and 2k rebate.

I probably could've pushed it, but the performance pickup is a nice bonus.

mhoran89's user avatarmhoran89 I was aiming for 10% but wasn’t able to get there (maybe another could, but not me sadly, ha). It was the only Alpine White with 22” black rims they had, so thinking they may have thought why give the extra 2% when they can probably sell it to someone for close to MSRP next month and pocket a lot more than they did with me. What are your thoughts on the MSRP discount, and what’s typically achievable south of Boston?
I am very good at buying cars but this was my first time getting into a BMW. I shopped 4 or more dealers and stuck with it. I made a crucial phone call to a sales manager at a big name dealer right at the perfect time in late December 2024...

They offered me 10% off MSRP plus 2K in incentives. I felt as though I left $1000 or so on the table with my trade but they threw in free floor mats and roof bars so I was happy.

I think 10% on an in-stock car is achievable with the right dealer in the boston market. plus incentives. other dealers were including the $2K in incentives (1k conquest from lexus 1k financing) in the discounts which I did not like. Herb Chambers BMW of Boston was upfront.

I think anything in the 9% off range is great. No one should be paying anything more than 5% off from sticker. I was able to settle on a car I originally did not want. they sold me into a 50e on the lot instead of a 40i and that might have had something to do with it. car was a non m-sport which is harder to move as well.

I think 11% is the sweet spot if you take car buying like an olympic sport but it will take perseverance and a lot of effort. another way is to use a broker.

martian_soldier's user avatarmartian_soldier Thanks for this! It was an in-stock on the lot. It's such a game at the beginning, you know? Meaning, until you've done it a few times and know the facts, it's tough to negotiate. Once you know what you *could* get based on what others in your geo have, it makes negotiating a lot easier, as there's a confidence in the offer. I am learning quite a bit from this group and am thankful! I'll go for 10% next time firm @ the end of month, and if it's on the lot, good to know they even sometimes sell at 12%.

In my specific case, I don't think I had a case of tunnel vision (maybe I did??) but since the model I acquired had the Shadowline package, 22" black rims, M, etc., I just feel like they really felt they could get someone to pick it up at full MSRP who didn't really care about $$ or someone who wanted it and would be OK with something like $3k or $4k off. Just the vibe I got when I was there. But maybe that was part of the sell. If so, it worked, haha. Hard to say for sure. Oh well! I'm still happy with the deal at 8%. Life is too short. I'm having a blast driving it! :happyanim:

Thanks again for the insight; very helpful for me!
you did a great job. better than most. a lot of people are happy just buying a car with the payment in the sweet spot. you went down the rabbit hole. happy for you.

This, seriously, I don't get why everyone is just piling on XDrive_Girl's user avatarXDrive_Girl as if she got absolutely taken. I swear every time I come back to this thread it's someone new replying to her saying like "well I got X% off".

She got what was ultimately a decent deal at 9% off net on the car that she wanted. It's really not the end of the world.
she got a sweet car at a really good deal. no shame there. as I said above a lot of people get taken. she did not. she should be proud and we are happy to help reinforce that!

Thanks SO much for this great insight & reply, mhoran89's user avatarmhoran89 - really appreciate you taking the time to share all of it!

I've always leased 330's (since 2012) but this was my first time going in "smart" when I decided I'd be buying / financing the X5 and not leasing anymore. Beforehand, I always made sure the payment looked good, and called it a day. Learned a ton over the last 6 months about OTD and what to focus on / what info not to give up (no info on trade-ins; cash down; etc.) as they can spin stuff round n' round. So this time I went in giving no info, kept it basic, and stayed focus on the OTD price.

Thanks a bunch again!

We just got a car pretty close to 10% in the PNW which is rare. We had an option to do custom order or pick one off the lot. They had the exact spec we wanted in their inventory which was great.

We did reach out to couple of out of state dealers and consultants but between their fees & shipping buying it locally made sense.

Full disclosure, I have been a customer at my local dealer for a long time and they made the whole process super easy. We were in and out in 45 mins flat!

TTG, what dealership and what sales agent gave you such a deal? I live in Gig Harbor, WA and would much prefer to order locally to avoid shipping costs if I can get nearly 10% off.

Appreciate your info.

First year models are tough. They are typically very buggy and discounts are harder to come by.

Current lease of my 23 X3 is up in Aug, I may stay with another x3 even though I don't love the look but at least it's not year 1

Hey everyone. I am shopping for a 2026 X5 xDrive40i and wanted to do a custom order so I can select the options and color. Is there any dealer in the southeast that will accept a custom order at 10% off MSRP or is it too late in the production cycle? Thank you for your help. Excited to purchase my first BMW!

Contact smithf80, the post above yours. scott@insightautoconsulting.com I am in SC and used him. I have a 2026 X5 being built this week and have never used a broker before. You will be very pleased with the pricing and the service he provides!
