sygazelle wroteIt must have been an early pre-production photo...it is a '56 Ford (except for its '55 V8 emblem)....and the world is right again. Thanks for clarifying.

'69 Javelin
I had a '68 Javelin back in the day. The grille said Javelin. In '69, AMC changed the grille to include that bullseye. A few minor changes on the interior too but otherwise the same car.
3798j wroteMy guess before "research": 1957 Chrysler.

3798j wroteDesoto?.
3798j wrote‘58The exposed door hinge and the rubber rub strip on the bumper are tip offs that it's a first gen ('67 or earlier) VW bus. I had a '58 window-less...and a '71, and a '83 Vanagon.

3798j wroteThanks. I wasn't up on Mopar that much being a GM and Ford kid, but some of them were really stylish to me, others?, not so much. Not a Chrysler but it is a Mopar...and a year off of a '57.
I now know the answer. Very forward design for '56 given the "Big Two" didn't launch their fins until '57.
I'd love to see one in person. I'll be looking at future car shows.
sygazelle wroteChrysler"s head designer, Virgil Exner, started his "Forward Look" in '55. By '58 it was in full swing. Here's Plymouth's, Dodge's, Desoto's and Chrysler's 1958 taillight treatments.Thanks. sygazelle wroteVW Bug. 1st gear syncro maybe after 1958?Make is pretty easy. Year is a bit tougher. All the information necessary is in these photos, plus the added info that the car pictured has synchromesh first gear.
