jsf721 wroteGive him one of yours…I’d wait this out. Rolex is a great watch company brand but they are offending their base and new customers. I am a 2x owner and wanted to get my son a watch for his birthday / college graduation but I won’t over pay. I’ll wait or pass.

NY535i wroteGood evening. I would personally choose a Rolex Daytona with a rubber bracelet for a sporty look.Hello everyone
I’m Looking to buy a Rolex to have as a nice going out watch I’m up to different styles and models. Let me know what you have
They usually come around £30k new and there are plenty of second-hand watches in bargain prices.
I usually check here: https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/
not sure if they do have a branch in the Americas but could be worth checking.
I appreciate the recommendation
.Looking for a stainless sub In anniversary green or black
It will surface someday. On a few wait lists.

Can't be the average Joe wanting a Rolex who just retired.
My next watch will be an AP since you stand a much better chance of getting one at MSRP through one of their boutiques....
MassComp wroteReally? I wouldn't think so for something like the Royal Oak even harder to get judging by the grey market mark up on list.

jsf721 wroteI know someone that can find this for you and help certify authenticity. He's also in a no sales tax state. Thanks for the advice. I daily my Daytona and he is looking for a more youthful look than my date just.
I appreciate the recommendation.

MassComp wroteCongrats!A month later, we found this Rolex Yacht Master in the display case at Longs in Burlington for MSRP. The salesman actually didn't want to sell it to us at first telling us to wait until my Sea-Dweller came in....we insisted of course....

Sea Dweller is my daily. Mine is 1995 I think.
BTCmePLZ wroteThank you.Congrats!

Funny thing is about a month after my wife scores her Yacht Master at Longs, I finally scored my Sea-Dweller from Lux Bond & Green in Wellesley.
All these watches were new 2021 models, all were bought at MSRP, and all are for personal use....we are not flippers.
I am currently on 3 different waiting lists for a white-faced Daytona, and have been going on two years now....

Still kicking myself for not buying this new VC Overseas chrono at MSRP I tried on at Shreve, Crump & Low on Newbury St. while waiting for my Sea-Dweller....

BTCmePLZ wroteI very much appreciate your help here, but unless it's new and at MSRP I wouldn't be interested. I know its a long shot to say the least when it comes to acquiring a Daytona....why sell at MSRP when one can get at least double that on the grey market.I know someone that can find this for you and help certify authenticity. I wish Rolex had their own boutiques....
jsf721 wroteSubs are not that hard to get, especially the black one. There are news circling that the luxury market is in a downturn so availability should be better now. There are folks on TRF receiving multiple high demand pieces within a short period of time (a few months of each other). Thanks for the advice. I daily my Daytona and he is looking for a more youthful look than my date just.
I appreciate the recommendation.

MassComp wroteFabulous, lovely watch, but I was referring to the 41mm in steel rather than a 34 or 37mm bi metal when I talked about being hard to get.My wife got hers at MSRP last year from the AP boutique in Boston in less than a month after placing a call there....
Wills2 wroteAh, yes....I'd LOVE a blue 26240ST.OO.1320ST.01 "50th Anniversary" chrono that has an MSRP of $33,800 USD! But because they're going for close to $200k on the grey market, the thought didn't even cross my mind to ask for one.Fabulous, lovely watch, but I was referring to the 41mm in steel rather than a 34 or 37mm bi metal when I talked about being hard to get.
I think I'd have a better chance acquiring a Royal Oak Offshore chrono 26238ST.OO.2000ST.01 in blue. This watch ticks all the boxes for me.... chrono, in-house movement, glass back, and metal band.
I just noticed your location is Kyiv....stay safe my friend, my thoughts & prayers to you and your country!
MassComp wroteYeah, makes sense. I am not a collector with your experience and knowledge of the market, but you should connect with my friend Sam. I am on his list for a Daytona, gold black face. He had a white face recently, box and papers in like-new condition.I very much appreciate your help here, but unless it's new and at MSRP I wouldn't be interested. P.S. Are you saying that the official dealers are selling above MSRP right now?

Short answer, no. All three "Waiting Lists" I'm currently on at jewelry stores in my area have told me they only sell at MSRP....and in a nutshell, this is why I don't have a new Daytona on my wrist yet because I refuse to pay more than MSRP.P.S. Are you saying that the official dealers are selling above MSRP right now?
BTCmePLZ wroteWhen I was at the AP boutique with my wife picking up her Royal Oak, I had the opportunity to try on a Code 11.59. I ultimately decided not to purchase this beautiful watch since the Code 11.59 only comes with a cheap pin buckle. I'm more of a folding clasp guy myself....
This is just![]()
Rolex make extremely nice watches, but they have definitely been overhyped. Anyone on YouTube claiming that they are investments is definitely selling snake oil. Now that grey market rolex values are down 15-50% and continue to drop, you should have a better chance of getting on a list and buying the model you want. The Pepsi GMT and panda Daytona are still going to be tough to get, but a submariner, sea-dweller or explorer should be doable as a new customer.
I've been told by my AD that Rolex supply is also picking up too, with shipments from China (lockdown) and Russia (sanctions) being re-routed to the USA, UK, and EU. I've also heard that Rolex has been in the process of refitting/expanding their operations to increase production which should also help with meeting demand. I was told there could be a 30% production increase, but can't confirm it.. There is hope!

A couple months ago I spent my queued Daytona money paying off my car loan in preparation of my pending G80....got tired of waiting.
If I cannot I’ll wait. Or not buy one or get something else. Urgency and instant gratification are too expensive when talking about the current Rolex market.
I’m kind of pissed off at them to be quite honest. I think they are alienating their loyal base.
Date just 2 tone my first purchase circa 1997
Date just stainless my wife’s daily circa 2015
Daytona 2 tone blue face my current daily 2018 (good lucky timing)
Date just stainless oyster 2018 sons graduation gift
Looking for another SS sport watch for younger sons grad gift but not willing to get taken to the cleaners. I’ll wait or get something else eventually.
