Does anyone have any update on this high pitch noise issue with the AC display?

-Vanguard- , do you happen to have a case # or anything for reference?

Has anyone received a "new" part that doesn't sing by itself?
Unfortunately no. My dealer ended up swapping out my unit but the noise was/is still there. I was hoping that this issue would be addressed in the MY22 but that looks to not be the case. I would still call BMW NA and make a complaint.

Called BMW NA but they had no information on the new part. I'm going to call my dealership to see if they have any info on it but in short, looks like the part number changed. Figured I'd throw this out there to see if anyone else had any good resources to see if anything changed with this new part.

Called BMW NA, they said they do not have any information on the part and what (if anything was changed). I was forwarded to the Genius who also did not have any info.

Called the parts department who said the same thing. Called my service rep and stated he would get in touch with his manager to get approval to reach out the technician rep for the area.

I just picked up new X3 and have similar issues :/

noise coming from central console. i would describe it as having an amp on full volume but no music playing. kind of static. But i when i use the power button on the volume knob I get a different noise from HVAC area every time i switch it on and off :/

I also get a high pitched noise coming from the car after unlocking coming from underneath or engine bay (hard to establish) can be heard from 2 meters

took it to the garage twice already. no one can hear it. I can partially believe it as working in noisy env can damage your ears but that's not an excuse ...

Hey everyone!

I recently picked up a 2019 X5 G05, and I started to hear this high pitch sound as well. It was driving me crazy, as it would do it in the morning and go away later.

I took it in for the latest recall, and service. I told my service advisor and apparently the tech was able to reproduce it, pulled up a bulletin that suggested reprogram the whole vehicle with latest software. They did that, and so far so good. I will report back if it comes back. They did mention something about an error in the "RAM" section. But the hi pitch sound is gone for now.

Would you mind sharing details about the bulletin that was pulled? I have a 2019 X5 with the same issue. My dealer opened a TSARA case and have replaced my unit but the high pitch noise is still there.

My car will be going in at the end of July for the Emergency Call System Malfunction issue and would like to give them some possible fixes for the noise issue.

Thanks

The reprograming didn't do much, the noise is in fact back! Trying to figure out how to get this solved. Anyone?

I contacted BMW NA they told me to kick rocks and figure it out with my local dealership...

That sounds like the BMW NA I typically experienced. If my local parts and body guy weren’t so easy to deal with I probably would had jumped ship.

Update everyone!

My dealership recently took a ride with me in the vehicle and service manager foreman heard the noise and said they would fix it. I just picked it up from service and took it on a test drive, so far no more high frequency noise at all. Will keep everyone posted.

The fix:
They replaced all of the plastic windshield trim on the sides and few other areas.

Thanks Aztec, very interesting! Can you post pictures of your paperwork so we can see which P/Ns were replaced?

Glad to hear it got resolved. Were you getting the high pitch noise only when driving? The issue I’m having is a constant high frequency noise from the HVAC unit at all times. If I put my hand over the HVAC display I can muffle it a bit.

Curious if your issue was different.

Sorry for the delay guys. I will post up paperwork here shortly. Above is one of the services they conducted.

For the longest time, I swear the noise was coming from the HVAC center console area. It turns out it was from the outside and the molding replacement fixed it.

Attached are all of the parts they replaced.

Found the source of the noise. Working to see if I can replace it with a higher quality component, if not will try some hot glue. Silicone didn’t do the trick. This is the board from the HVAC control unit

Nice find! Is that right behind where the HVAC LCD screen is?

It sure is. I’ve tried some insulation foam and a few other things but the noise still permeates through. If I apply pressure to the side of that component, it stops.

I’m working with a guy that repairs circuit boards and is trying to source a new part to solder in there. I tried hot glue yesterday but didn’t work unfortunately.

The number on there is D08021 for reference.

Interesting. The solder joint looks good though?

Yeah they look fine, as far as I can see….I tried putting some hot glue on the back side as well but didn’t help. It needs quite a bit force on the side to stop it from making the noise. You can hear the frequency changing a bit depending on how much force it used

Here’s the back of the “main” board with the smaller one removed. The arrow is pointing to the back part of where that chip is.
