ScottieDo wroteWest coast day 52 checking in - jealous of that 18 day turnaround! Its here! 18 days from ordering
Congrats! Nice build.

SeekTheFinest wroteNice, the matte trim is perfect. I have it in my current black/ black '22 X5 and its funny, its the thing people have complimented the most over the years. Its such a unique, beautiful trim. And best part is it always looks clean.I love the cognac and matte trim. I have a Manhattan Green one on order with the same interior specification...
xdsm06 wroteAny update on yours? Have you been tracking the rail?Congrats, won't be much longer of a wait for you!
This morning mine is status 190 dispatched from the factory. My dealer said it has an ETA of Oct 11th for the KC rail yard. Then it goes to the Renton rail yard before final dealership delivery in Seattle.
So, just a hair under 1 month from order in to possession, including an extra transfer due to out of state delivery. Pretty amazing compared to ordering my E39 M5 ages ago. Completely different circumstances though.
2025G0540i wroteMine left the Kansas City rail yard on Tues Oct 7th and is currently in transit to Renton. My SA says their system shows an ETA of Oct 23rd to the dealership. They weren't able to give me the train info.Any update on yours? Have you been tracking the rail?
xdsm06 wroteGotcha. My Melbourne Red is slated for week 4, January 18-24. I'm only a 2 hour drive from the BMW plant so I don't have that extra long wait once it's built. I would give yours a good wash, clay bar, light polish and a coating after being on the train. I've heard the railway leaves a lot of abrasive fallout on the paint. That's just the ocd in me I'm sure it'll be fine.Mine left the Kansas City rail yard on Tues Oct 7th and is currently in transit to Renton. salmonberg wroteThank you for the transit time between KC and Renton. I was wondering what other's transit time experiences were. Especially with being put on a truck after arriving in Renton. Heading down Saturday to take delivery.
salmonberg wroteCan you expand on your timelines after your build completed and left the factory in Spartanburg? I’ll be taking delivery in WA, so probably similar timelines to what you probably saw.I was pleasantly surprised. xdsm06 wroteI did find the color on a couple local M240's for sale. The color takes on a lot of different shades and tones that's for sure. In the shade it takes on a deep rich red that, to me looks amazing. In the sun it does take on a little bit of an orange undertone depending on the angle you're looking at it. Up close you can see the metallic in the paint but a few feet away I didn't notice it. I spoke with a recent new owner of a Melbourne red X5 M60 and this is how she described it.I saw you got to check out Melbourne Red in person, what did you think?
"So here’s my take because my husband has a red f150 truck. When I saw this red I also said it has a more orange undertone than his truck that leans a more purple/burgundy undertone. And by no means do I think the car looks orange but I’m a photographer and I use undertones a lot when I’m editing to change how images look so when I saw it I said it leans more orange than his truck does. BUT I don’t think it LOOKS orange in any of the lighting we’ve had it in and I think it’s a stunning color"
2025G0540i wroteYeah I think that is a good way to describe it. It's not the bright fire engine red like my Audi's Tango Red Metallic. That is a much brighter red that pops. The Melbourne is a little more subdued but still pops. Doesn't show orange like some of the other BMW reds do (Toronto red is one that comes to mind) and isn't as completely burgundy and muted like Vegas Red.I did find the color on a couple local M240's for sale. salmonberg wroteStarted off great, until today! I'll start with the good; I'm surprised how much of an upgrade it is from my 45e. I really enjoy the new iDrive system, and love some of the new interior styling. I've really been loving the powertrain, feels more powerful and refined. How's the 50e been treating you this week?
The bad is I just got it back from tint today and all the controls in my driver door are dead. None of the buttons work, windows, locks, massage. I just went out there to try again hoping it was a fluke, and noticed all the lights are dead too. Seems like either a fuse blew, a connection came lose, or a water got in the door when tinting and blew the module. So that will be what I get to sort through Monday.
Overall loving the car though, and so nice to switch it up from black on black
ScottieDo wroteBummer! At least it seems pretty clearly related to shenanigans at the tint shop but still a pain to deal with. Have you contacted the shop?Started off great, until today! I’ve read about batteries getting drained while at tint or paint, but not partial malfunctions. Inclined to agree with your assumptions but let us know what you find out.
Are fuses easy to switch on the 50e?
Picking mine up tomorrow. Fortunately no tint shops to get in my way. =)

Great news this morning! Buttons are working again. I was pretty bummed last night, especially when I got in the car at night to see the driver door panel completely bricked, no lights on at all. Like magic, they are working again today. I think there was just too much moisture in there and it dried out overnight.
Here are a couple [crappy] quick pics I just took. I did 15% on the fronts, and 80% on sides and rear. Also PPF'd front a rear reflectors with gloss black and de-baged it. Decided I'm also going to hit the grey strip on the bumper with black ppf when I get it ceramic coated next week. Tuxmats also arrived last night, I like the quality, we'll see how they fit today.
Good way to start the weekend, really did not want to rearrange my week to get to the service department!
Did it throw a warning at all?
Mine’s delivered out of state, on the train to pick it up and drive it home today. I’ll post some pics soon.
