tvieso wroteDid you use myBMW US app?Adding to the discussion here.
I recently purchased a 2026 X5 in Germany and haven’t been able to connect the vehicle to the MyBMW app. At CD USA’s request, I emailed my Bill of Sale and Certificate of Origin to their validation address. Since then, the car is now visible in My Garage on the online portal. However, when I try to activate ConnectedDrive, the activation code still hasn’t appeared in the vehicle.
It’s only been about 24 hours since they acknowledged receipt of my documents, so this may simply be a matter of waiting a few days for full validation.
As a side note, my delivery specialist mentioned that “something changed in July” regarding ConnectedDrive. The last several X5s they delivered reportedly had the same issue, and they’re waiting on further guidance before providing updates.

kubax86 wroteYes. Today it actually removed my vehicle in there and when I tried setting it back up, it said something like “your BMW is in the process of being added. Hang tight.”Did you use myBMW US app?
dfalcon wroteI actually had this exact issue with iDrive 8.5. A few posts above, I wrote about ConnectedDrive and connectivity. But what I did not mentioned is that I had issues with CarPlay as well. When the car arrived from the US, CarPlay was working. However, after the first coding to EU, it stopped working (same error about that bluetooth no longer compatible), while ConnectedDrive and the MyBMW app continued to work without any issues. Recoded back to US, still no CarPlay.Did the Warranty validation. Drove my 2025 to France and everything connected. However, I still do not have Carplay or Android Auto. The apps are there but after pairing a phone, I get message about "Not possible to connect this device. Bluetooth version no longer compatible". Has anyone else experienced this? Dealer says US-spec Carplay doesn't work in Germany and they won't diagnose.
Then the guys did coding to EU and some additional coding while trying to make CarPlay work. They eventually managed to get it working (I don't really know what they did), but since then my ConnectedDrive has stopped working, and no "update apps and services" have been available.
I was also stupid enough to remove my BMW ID (tried to re-add hoping it will restore my connectivity
), and after that I lost connectivity to MyBMW in July. I’m not sure whether this is related to the mass disconnect in the EU or simply because some time passed while my car didn’t have a linked account.TL;DR: When the car arrived from the US, everything was working. It was still working during the first trip to another workshop, but after EU coding, the problems started.
Mean wroteMine is working just fine... must be regional cutoffs? You are not going to receive the activation code because your car is cut off from the Internet (since July 2025).
Mean wroteThis checks with what my delivery specialist said last week. I’m waiting on a reply from CD USA to see exactly what they say.You are not going to receive the activation code because your car is cut off from the Internet (since July 2025).
Mean wroteDo you have any details on this? I imported a 2024 X1 and it was working fine till July and all of a sudden it lost connection. You are not going to receive the activation code because your car is cut off from the Internet (since July 2025).
Is there anything that could be done to fix that? It's very frustrating! The app is rendered useless, no maps, traffic and weather information…
But interesting fact, today I drove to Austria and suddenly the app started to work again and car had connectivity and the option "Update apps and Services" were no longer greyed out.
To me it seems like BMW is cutting roaming for US sim cards in roaming.
mrgicm wroteIt might be a part of their efforts to reduce export to Europe. I'm in Bulgaria and the local dealers are declining to provide any maintenance to the car. They don't want to change the oil even if I'm paying for the service. Most likely nothing, I have the same issue on a G15, all was fine untill July 2025, then no more internet in the car, before the Sim Card ststus was shown roaming then after July 2025 just Emergency calls only which implies the Sim card provider no longer supports roaming.

The vehicle shows up in My Garage and when I activated Connected Drive, the vehicle immediately appeared in my US MyBMW iOS app. Remote functions aren’t greyed out and I can see vehicle’s full status, parked location, etc.
I do not, however, have the Data Privacy tab under Settings. It doesn’t even appear. I also don’t have RTTI and my profile photo or favorites haven’t synced. So, I reached out again to see what they say before doing a soft reboot of iDrive.
tvieso wroteUS CD Customer Services replied and advised me to contact my local dealership so they can open a TSARA case with BMW.Update. CD USA successfully mapped my vehicle using verification documents I sent.

I’m going to try a soft reset of iDrive to see if that helps. Some owners have reported that their services magically started working after a couple of weeks of going through this process without any specific fix, so I’m giving it a little time as well.
Since the July 2025 changes (internet being cut off?), I’m not expecting that to suddenly resolve anything at this point. We’ll see.
What still doesn’t make sense to me is that I have full remote functionality in the US MyBMW app, but the vehicle won’t connect to the cloud services. I’m wondering whether this is related to the embedded SIM/eSIM setup or if it’s just using the regular built-in SIM. I haven’t activated the eSIM.
Ofc.. is not getting any connectivity whatsoever.
(Wrote to USA support, to see it for some extra fee they might activate some.. 'extra' roaming option, as few yrs ago the US BMWs were working fine in here.
Needless to say nothing works inside the APP, because the car cannot be contacted anymore.
BMW protected their thing by not providing the car the ability to connect to an independent wi fi hotspot - all our problems would have been solved in that case
(
This is where your car number eSIM is managed from and where you can buy the data plans and etc.
I just paid yesterday a 25USD/month plan Prepaid no contract.
Let's see what s going on now..
My car is in ROmania.
While it was in Belgium it worked perfect
..
Any was keep posting your update
But, like any carrier, i try to find a way to contact them directly somehow to ask about this speciffic issue with the roaming on my eSIM
I tried to google for some ATT support contact for the vehicle eSIMm but no luck so far
So, this works like that
ATT, the eSIM provider doas not have roaming active in europe except SOME countries.
I just found out why SOME have it - is because there are many US troops stationed for NATO,which they could not use their car abilities and complained a lot.
So unless US Army would request ATT to add another countries on the list based on their needs.. this will NOT WORK.
In romania we do have a chance, right now they are to open the largest NATO base in europe soon and hopefully they will make a deal with a local carrier for this.
So, you CANNOT change ATM ECE and make it work, you will lose CD, will be useless.
ATMs/eSIMs are tight to the BMW servers, which are split USA.. EU - totally separate.
Maybe some super mambo jambo to be done from some inside factory person that can officially tight an ECE ATM on and USA based car and stansfer it on EU serers - this is already Sience FIction.
SO... will NEVER work
((Anyone want to buy an 840i ?
))
sinner- wroteYeah well... CD isn't much needed, more like nice to have. Navigation is amazing, but now we have google maps, apple maps which are already showing directions in HUD, so I think it's sufficient.OK, DEAD END.

THis is actually my struggle, being able to uose the app.
The app can:
open car close car start car LOCATE teh carm horn, retrieve LIVE CAMERA feed from the car etc
Is an amazing feature this is why i struggle to make it work.
because of all this functionality
Carplay i already have and works great, but.. without the app the car si..
so blunt
Germany dealer installed EU maps and it works, but Data Privacy and some remote ability is broke (can't do the remote view), and several apps are now greyed out.
My guess is there is a geo restriction for the ConnectedDrive services. BUT, there is some connectivity because my vehicle reports mileage and location, etc, and presumably that goes through the built-in SIM service. Does anyone know how to show the SIM status (not personal esim)?
I will report back when next I go to France as to whether the rest of CD comes back on. Interestingly, I've never been able to get beyond "Limited" status for my BMW ID, even though everything was working.
