Guys this is getting fishy. I picked a random VIN with K35xxx that is at one of our local dealerships and added it to My BMW Garage. It doesn't show the Deletion of Backup Assistant, unlike the car we took delivery of which is K30xxx. Hence I think > K35xxx has a touch screen.

I think what happened is that there was a batch of CID screens that shipped from the vendor that didn't have the right hardware to support touch (or faulty units) and that made it to the factories. Then once they discovered it, they ended up installing them but passing on the feature deletion as the $500 credit.

I may try this with a few other > K35xxx VINs to check.

What day did your car show as "Production Begins", and what was the order date?

My car went into production on 11/5 and the Genius said it will be produced (estimated) on 11/19. I don't see any deletions either but I'm assuming once the car is in the next stage it will start to show.

I wouldn't take what the Genius says as gospel either. Before the Genius emailed me back with the 11/19 production date, I spoke to another one on the phone who said the production date will be late November early December. Based on the timelines others have reported, the 11/19 production date seems to be more accurate. So if two Geniuses gave me two different answers...I wouldn't hold my breath on their every word.

I never feel like I get good information from the genius number. They never tell the same story or even sound confident in the information. Nice people but other than that I’m not super impressed.

My car will be completed on the 19th and I’m being realistic about the deletions. It would be nice to skate through but not likely.

As mentioned, the VIN won’t be available for decoding until after it is assembled. While usually the assigning of a VIN locks the build, in the case of the touchscreen delete that has not been added to the VIN in most cases until assembly has started/finished.

We have seen some post that the touchscreen was not deleted from theirs. That would fit into the theory that they will be building with touchscreens when they are available.

I placed my order at the end of October but didn’t get a production number until November 5th when my CA said “great news! I was able to bump you up in line and you should be taking delivery by early December”. Which makes me think maybe someone backed out and I took someone’s earlier allocation? Who knows but I got my Vin right away (November 8th) & it’s been in Production Begins since then.

Yeah I’m hopeful but not 100% convinced either. If you didn’t see my other post I ordered end of October and it went into production begins on nov 8th.
But someone also said Genius will know about the deletions before the VIN decodes and it shows on MyGarage. All I can do is CROSS MY FINGERS at this point !

Can someone decode this VIN, 5UXCR6C07N9K39421 to see if it has the 6UY deletion? I am at the limit. It does not have the parking assistance package, which is why it is not showing the "Deletion of Backup Assistant" on mybmw.

I just checked for you. Vin is registered and comes up, but no detailed info available on the decoder right now meaning the usual list of features and options are not listed. You'll need to wait a few more days.

Oh cool! I used the DevTool as Hulu above pointed out and you can see all the Option codes as well as the estimated Production date. That is the same date the Genius gave me. I had no idea so much information was buried in the MyGarage page.

My vehicle is in 150 status and I don't see the 6UY anywhere (yet). The production date is listed as 11/19.

Status 150 Production Begins is ~ 2 weeks prior to the production date.

Production date is the date the vehicle is actually assembled.

You will be very hard pressed to find an allocation slot that will get you a build before 12/31 if that is your goal. There are 45e cancelations on existing builds, so if you are flexible on your colors, etc., you'll have the best luck emailing or calling all the BMW Dealers with a 100 miles of you asking for any canceled orders/existing 45e inventory. I've seen 3 in California pretty loaded and avail within the past few days. Good luck.

I called them every other day and I got a different story every time I called. Nice people indeed, but useless. Your CA will have lots more useful information.

Based on my 2 builds, it is the complition date.
Both colpleted on 11/11, on the truck on 11/14 and should be at the dealer 11/16.
Both builds have the touchscreen according to my CA.
I did the dev decoding on Chrome as suggested on a prior post and I do not have the S06UY deletion code on either build.
I will know for sure when I got to pick them up, or not.
