So this cannot be done on cars before 2000 07, and cannot be done on later models that have iDrive 8 or 8.5?

I agree with this. I pretty much refer to it as a burbles tune. I have not gotten the “gun pop” sound, but that may be because I am running stock downpipes.

Prior to getting this tune I was strongly considering catless secondaries but that is no longer the plan as I thoroughly enjoy the sound as is.
I just ordered the enet cable should land tonight. Now that you’ve had a little more time with the burbles tune what’s your opinion ? Have you heard more gunshots either in decel or full wot ? Any new videos while driving you could share ?

Yep, still love it, zero regrets. The first 4-5 days I had it I didn't listen to any music as I was just enjoying the new sound. Still do that today after weeks of having it.

I don't have any videos while driving. And with more seat time I can now say there are instances where I get more of a gunshot/bang sound than the standard burbles on decel. I'm not an overly aggressive driver so rarely do I wot it but yesterday for example while exiting a parking lot turning right I got tired of waiting for the traffic to pass so I went and had to gun it and it provided a wonderfully loud gunshot/bang on a hard acceleration.

After long debating of what I wanted to do with my exhaust setup, knowing what I know now I would have started with this burbles tune on the stock exhaust to see how I liked the sound. Then I would've added a midpipe and then the axle back.

I enjoy this mod too. Go for the exhaust set up, it will enhance the sound. And remove unnecessary restrictions on air flow. Just count how many resonators and mufflers are on the oem system. Also the aftermarket exhaust system will give you full control over valves so they can be opened 100% at anytime. I get burbles on efficiency mode, gun bangs on m1, and when I want to shut up those fake exhaust sounds like they’ve got a hole in their muffler on the streets purposely reving at me, m2 would put them behind me stay quietly haha

So bummed this can't be done on the early production F95's, I hope a solution is found to fix the CEL being thrown. :confused2

So the mods I have ; full Akrapovic exhaust system, Eventuri intake, and Active Autowerke high flow catted DP’s but will be going fully catless DP’s in a couple days so once I’m fully catless will the gunshot bangs be louder or non existent since there won’t be any restrictions and air will just flow freely ?

The bangs only occur when a sudden wod takes place. You won’t get it during normal rpm fluctuation. I have a full Valvetronic Design exhaust system, Eventuri CAI, AA secondary dps, oem primary dps. So it’s similar to your setup. I also got the RC chip which I think makes difference with sound too. So to answer your question, I don’t think would be any louder on the bang sound but having primary dp removed would probably make the overall exhaust note louder and deeper which would be all the time, not just during WOD

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with a burble/crackle tune I recently got from Bimmerworks and ask if anyone else has encountered the same issue.

I have a 2022 BMW X6M Competition fitted with Eventuri carbon intakes and a full Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, including center link pipes. While the sound was already impressive, I felt the car was missing those aggressive burbles and crackles, especially in Sport+ mode.

After some research, I came across Bimmerworks and discovered that their software seemed to be exactly what I was looking for: burbles/crackles in Sport+ mode without having to unlock the ECU, tune the car, or void the warranty.

I reached out to Marc via WhatsApp, and I have to say, the communication was excellent. He responded immediately, and within a couple of hours, I was already starting the process. All I needed was a Windows laptop and an OBD Ethernet cable. Using AnyDesk, Marc remotely took control of my laptop, connected to the car in diagnostic mode, downloaded some software, and did his magic. The entire process took about 30 minutes.

After a few adjustments, the car came to life. The burbles and crackles were perfect—not too obnoxious but just what the car was missing. It transformed the driving experience, and I was thrilled with the results.

However, I’ve noticed an issue since getting the tune installed. I live in the Chicagoland area, where the current weather is freezing, and remote start is an absolute necessity for me. When I tried using the remote start feature (both from the key and the BMW app), I got error messages saying:

"Climatize now was not successful."
"Lock doors was not successful."
When I got into the car, the iDrive system displayed a message:

"Remote engine start is not available. The conditions required for operation have not been met."
The app also displayed an error saying, "Something went wrong."

I contacted Marc, and he mentioned that there seems to be some kind of BMW protection in place now, which is causing the remote start to fail. I also noticed I cannot lock the car using the app.

While I absolutely love the burbles in Sport+—it feels like something BMW should’ve included from the factory—I’m not sure if it’s worth sacrificing remote start and some app functionality, especially during the winter.

Has anyone else with a 2022+ X5M or X6M and the Bimmerworks tune experienced similar issues? If so, did you find a workaround? I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

Update:

After spending more time with the tune, I’ve decided to stick with it and honestly, I couldn’t be happier. The burbles and crackles completely transform the driving experience, making the car sound like it should have from the factory.

Aside from the remote start issue, I haven’t experienced any other problems or concerns. Everything else functions as it should, and the car drives flawlessly. While losing remote start is a bit of an inconvenience in the winter, the overall enjoyment I get from the tune far outweighs that drawback.

For anyone with an F95/F96 looking to add some extra character to their exhaust without tuning or unlocking the ECU, I highly recommend this. It’s one of the best mods I’ve done to the car.

Hope this helps anyone considering it.

I did this flash on my 2022 x5m comp last year. It’s great. The immediate issue I encountered was next day the car went limp with message about fault with battery or something. I don’t remember. After the car was left off and negative terminal pulled off for several hours, it came back fine on the next start and problem never occurred again. I never really used the remote start feature but I knew it worked before the flash. I recently tried to remote start and it didn’t work. Hasn’t worked since I discovered the issue. The fault message I get is also related to battery. I never looked into it harder because it doesn’t bother me as much as it does for your case. If the loss of this feature surpasses the pleasure of the tune, the solution I can think of is have your dealership reflash the factory software maybe that would erase the tune but that’s if you are 100% sure the issue is caused by the tune.

Wow, that's very disappointing to hear the burble tune possibly causing battery errors and disabling the remote start functionality of your vehicles. Thanks for sharing as the Bimmerworks remote tune option would be a nogo until it could be proven that these issues are resolved.

I appreciate both of you sharing your 1st hand experiences and look forward to hearing how responsive the follow up is from Bimmerworks and if these problems do get resolved.

X5MnM3comp, did your battery error ever return again? If so I wonder if the battery error is causing the remote start option to fail?

aamirb, when there is an OTA software update of iDrive 7, my remote start will not work until I go into the headunit and reactive the preconditioning option again. Once I do that both the fob remote and the myBMW app remote start options begin working again. This has happened twice after installation of an iDrive 7 software update.

Maybe the Bimmerworks coding reset this option in your headunit. Can you confirm if the preconditioning option is activated in the settings of your car?
