50% here and it is perfect. No noticeable difference during nightime driving.

50% is just about right

I did 70% out the door but it was too light. Hemmed and hawed on the redo as I didn't want to chance it with the leather dash. Ended up sucking it up and going 50. It's just perfect. Not overly dark and pedestrians can see if I am visually seeing them at a crosswalk and handing them off as acknowledgment

I couldn't wait to have the windshield tinted on my X5M! I usually do this to all of my vehicles, but especially this one since it is Tanzanite with an Ivory interior. I felt like I was riding around in the Pope-mobile, on high display for all to see! 😂The tint calmed down the brightness of my interior from the outside and it takes a trained eye to notice it from the inside looking out. It simply looks better and offers sun protection too! Our Laser LED headlights are some of the best available, so nighttime vision is still superb and undaunted by having light tint.
Win!

I also wanted to point out that having the windshield tinted slightly help blends in well with the side windows (legal tint).

Did 30 % on the windshield and 5s on the side. Some getting used to but I'm good with it now LOL

Just throwing it out there that full windshield tint is illegal in all states.

That being said I've never been stopped for the 70% on mine.

Dropped it off for tint and PPF this morning and kept going back and forth with 70% or 55% for the windshield. Ultimately played it safe again and went with 70%.

Has anyone noticed or experienced any changes to the way the HUD displays with different tint brands, darknesses, or just in general with the windshield tinted?

I have 50% on the windshield (not sure on brand) and there is some very minor ripple/distortion with the HUD display. Not horrible, and don't always notice it, but it is there. Still very readable and while I notice it, my wife has never mentioned it.

I can't imagine going darker than 50% on the front (I have 20% on the front side windows. I've noticed with this config, it can be hard to see who is in the car from the outside from head on. Overall, I'm happy with the look and tint.

Nothing obvious that I can see. It still displays like OEM without tint. I went with 70% Xpel XR plus. I feel if you get any high end ceramic tint installed it you should be fine.

70% Xpel XR Plus tint on the front windshield. Looks much darker as I have all black interior.

Personally, I don't do the whole windshield but an eyebrow. Great from when you need it and doesn't impact visibility too much

Does tinting the windshield (shade notwithstanding) attenuate outside noise at all? Does side window tint help?
04-25-2024
Interior Color, Side Fronts may alter how dark the front looks..

I went 70%. It was too light. Hemmed and hawed as I did not want the chance of leather dashboard f-ups on redo. Bit the bullet, had it redone in 50. 50% is just right. Photos don't pick up how it looks in person but dark enough but -light enough- that as a driver, you can do a pedestrian (I see you , cross the street wave off) and it's stil visible from outside

I'm doing 20% on driver/passenger side windows and 55% on windshield. Anybody experience any HUD distortion after 55% windshield tint?

Nothing that I can see on my end. HUD is displaying just fine.

I did 50% on windshield and don’t see any difference as far as HUD goes.

So is everyone doing ceramic tint or regular film?

Ceramic or even better, Nanoceramic.

Investing on a good tint film brand is worth it on the long run. 3M, XPel and Madico all have good products.
