r33_RGSport wroteCopy that, I just paid the same amount - $300. USD - to a local body shop to paint an X5M rear roof spoiler my factory body color. Turned out nice and installation (swap of original roof spoiler) was quick and easy. The paint shop charge me $300.

VetteZ06 wroteThe retrofit kit I purchased comes with the new X5M spoiler and 5 clips that are part #51-77-7-171-002. These white ‘clips’ are more like plastic plugs and I’m not sure why they are included as you do not need them. I just transferred these 2 clips from my factory G05 spoiler to the new X5M spoiler.Did you use the original clips from your original spoiler or did you have to buy new ones?
Note: You also need to transfer the 4 square clips at the edge. These are the threaded clips the 4 torx bolts attach to.
DENtoLAS wroteJust got it painted, now just waiting to pickup my X5 lol.Great thread, great idea. Hands down better than any mod spoiler out there. This may be the only mod I'd put on my 40i.

Dr. Jekyll wroteI take delivery on March 13 and will install it same day. I Will update with steps involved to install the spoiler. This picture is without the M roof spoiler.Wow these look great, looks like I should consider this as well. Thanks for sharing.

Alan l. wroteAgree. Its pretty amazing how big of a difference the X5M roof spoiler changes the way the rear end looks. Once you've seen it with the M spoiler it just doesn't look right without it.

Just installed mine.

- remove 4 rubber covers and 4 T25 Torx screws located under the tailgate middle. Leave the 2 screws 1 at each end. Picture 1
- standing behind with tailgate closed pull the spoiler towards you. Start from one corner. It's a little tight don't worry it will not break if you hear a pop it's the white clips disconnecting. Picture 2
-swap the 2 white clips and 4 spacer tabs. Make sure to take a photo for location because they need to go exactly same location on the M spoiler. Picture 3
-to reinstall tailgate closed place the spoiler back on top, there are 5 tabs 2 on each side and 1 in the middle. Align tilt the spoiler up just a bit for the tabs go in them lower and push forward. Picture 3
- open tailgate and put screws back and rubber covers. Picture 4
(Use a magnet bit because screws can fall inside tailgate. when removing screws manually lower tailgate to prevent screws from falling inside tailgate but if they do don't panic just use a magnet screwdriver to reach it. )
Good luck 👍 took me 30 min.
