Good to know. Looks like I need to get familiar with Bimmercode.

..... Either way you need to set the steering, suspension and tranny as you wish.
I wish I could individually configure trans. to comfort in sport individual. Then SI would be my go to to avoid ASS. But since I cant, I swipe down and disable ASS and drive in comfort most of the time around town.

If you go to Sport Individual, what are all the settings options you have to choose from? Can you post a pic of that screen?

The LCI just has Drivetrain, it does not separate engine and transmission like the pre-LCI does. On my M50i I have everything set to Sport except the transmission but unfortunately that is not possible on the M60i.

If I could I'd have Sport individual set like comfort, with full HP. I can almost have that, but I have to manually upshift with the right paddle after hard acceleration, it doesn't let it go into 8th in sport, and there's to much engine braking for my taste. As TB said, they started lumping engine and trans together

Just curious, but has anyone ever tried a petition? Curious what would happen if we had 1000 or 10000 signatures. Maybe nothing, but since all I ever hear from BMW is that "no one" complains about these things (A.S.S., physical buttons, etc), maybe they're just not hearing what their drivers are asking for.

Probably mentioned already, I added a gesture to turn it off. So the first thing I do after starting up my car is :party0030:

wow, would love this but of course they took it away for 2026! Figures, this would have been a great use case for it.

Mine is 2025 X5 M60. I don’t think there is much difference compared to 2026. Go to the Auto Stop start > click into it > press and hold the scrolling wheel in center console. An option should pop up saying Add gesture. I chose the 2 finger one and now I can turn it on and turn it off with that gesture.

Except for Gesture control is removed from the 2026 BMW X5 (G05).

Cool, I have the same car, so I'm gonna give that a try. One less touch screen smudge. ha ha

I have a 2019 X5 and I bought both BIMMER CODE & LINK to recode everything to no avail since BMW had already pushed the updates to my vehicle. I finally found a module on europremiumparts that is supposed to remember the last setting on the button.

Went ahead and paid the $70 to order the module. It took about 3 1/2 weeks to show up and then about 15 minutes of figuring out how to get the console apart to put the module in line. But finally something seems to be working. I've locked it up and walked away and when I come back later the button is already lit up like I left it.

So far I haven't seen any issues but it is a bit early to tell. I'm curious if there is some sort of internal battery inside the module which will die out over time because how does it remember what state I left the button last? Anyway, if any thing adverse happens I'll update my post.

Curious as to how you actually installed it since the cartoon diagrams on their website don't reflect the G05. I'm assuming it came with accurate instructions but can you tell us more. Starting with the 2021 model year, the Auto Start/Stop (ASS) button was removed so is this device only applicable to 2019 and 2020 even though their site states 2019 to 2025?

I have a 2023 G05 M50i which has the Start/Stop button. Are you sure about your dates?

This seems like one of those 20%/80% situations. It is 20% I'm right and 80% Marty is right. If I'm right I must be in a different dimension today. ;)

Ha ha ha, good sense of humor....We're both right ;) To be more accurate, it's the ASS button that was removed starting model year 2021 when the mild hybrid was released. I will amend my post to state this, thanks for your post!

Just my opinion, but turn an engine off and on is when it wears the most. Starting an engine is the worst. I find turning off the engine a bit unsettling when I'm at a stoplight or intersection.

The only reason the auto makers put these systems in place was to achieve gas mileage increases pushed by the governments without having to completely change the vehicle systems.

I'm driving an X5 M50i because I didn't want the extra batteries found in the hybrid models which will go bad in 8 years. I hold on to a car for a long time so batteries are a bad solution.

Obviously you do what you want but modern engines, starters, MH systems are built with ASS in mind.

Auto Start/Stop has nothing to do with the EPA gas mileage calculations.

Yeah, really wish I could select "comfort" transmission in Sport mode in the M60i. That would be perfect. Sport transmission holds gears waaaaay too long for me, really irritating.
